No, suoerchargers work by super heating the air that is forced in, there are kits to After cool them but as far as lower boost no they need nothing.

Wow...

A supercharger will do what any other form of FI will do. It compresses the air going into the motor...therefore getting more air into the cylinder.

The act of compression ALONE is what causes most of the heat in ANY form...supercharged or turbocharged.

You can try and fabricate a heat exchanger to go between the manifold and the SC like they do in the 03+ Cobras.

ok time for a lesson on superchargers. there are multiple types of superchargers. it all depends what supercharger you are running.

type #1 Positive Displacement. this is the type that most people think of when you say SC. also most common is a roots type but there is also a LYSHOLM,Sliding Vane, G-lader, Wankle blah blah blah not important. either way they are internal or external compression based. oh and they are Pulley based platforms and with this method boost is granted throughout the entire powerband and rpm range. press the gas and you have boost.most people think of a roots type SC (oldschool muscle guys, jackson racing and so on.)

Type#2 Exhaust driven. this basically operates like a turbo charger with slight variations. with you can use a IC with. alot of S2000 and Z guys use these.

Type #3 Dynamic SC like Centrifugel. These are basically a shaft driven application which do not provide any boost at low RPM's which make it a good option for a stock compression motor. in my opinion these SC are a no go. lets see you get no boost at low RPM and you get lag on the top end. boooo! also this application can use a IC.

also with a Positive Displacement it is optimum for Auto trannies or trannys i guess not tannies lol.

Good info, i was thinking the same thing about "superheating"
Slightly off topic: I wonder if anyone had any ideas on adapting G-Lader off Corrado to our motors.

ya you dont want hot air in the motor you want dense air

Dense=Cold

Re: Do you need an Intercooler for a Superchargers?

You don't NEED one for low powered cars. I know the Greddy turbo kit for the 240SX was made to run w/o an intercooler (if run at the 6psi they intended). But they recommend an intercooler if you up the boost.

Re: Do you need an Intercooler for a Superchargers?

Depends on how much boost you will be running. Low boost then you will not need an intercooler. The higher the boost the more temperature it generates, hence the intercooler.

Re: Do you need an Intercooler for a Superchargers?

ill tell you this i had a 02 Audi TT 180q and it comes with a tiny @SS intercooler in the wheelwell, i decided to throw in a big front mount. lesson learned if you do not have enough boost an intercooler will rob you of power. like GReddy doesnt even include one with their low end 6psi setup(turbo). so unless you are running id say +9psi then save your $1,000 on an intercooler and piping
