I say let's break the tradition and move it a couple weeks to a month out only because of the weather issue. Foliage should be more abundant but there may be more traffic, but then it was pretty packed this time. Don't get me wrong I'm still down for the last weekend in March.
Also let's save save save and get a big A$$ Cabin or as many smaller ones as we need to be close to each other; $15 to $20 a month if possible.
Stenger hit on some very good points in the 2011 start talking thread for keeping it as is. Pasting his quotes below, which are pretty much spot on:
"Last weekend of March for financial reasons, as well as less visitors opposed to summer. And keep it in Gatlinburg. It seems to work on lots of aspects. It doesn't interfere with big shows. It doesn't cost a lot. Tax Returns can help fund the trip. Spring break typically falls in those last two weeks of the month. Making it easier for college students to make the trip."
Personally I think we should have shawnmarie scope out cabins in the area and try to find one that would not only be big enough but also have a 'lowered friendly' driveway

I can def. call around and get pricing for next year, maybe a local discount and group rate. My mother-in-law cleans a cabin for a man she knows maybe i can get the hookup. Other family members clean cabins around the area too, ill talk to them aswell. Im staying at a cabin in 2 weeks in pigeon forge for a wedding its 3 stories with a personal INDOOR POOL!! Holds about 40 people. Bunkbeds, TVs, and 2 kitchens. Like i said ill look around and see what i can do. Anybody have any ideas about attractions that they would like to do next year? If i get some ideas in advance i can start saving tickets, I can get discount (some FREE) tickets to just about everything.
Alright...I know we've talked about changing the date multiple times, but I really do think we should push it back a couple weeks...it'd be so much more pleasant to walk around & stuff. Traffic sucks either way, it's a touristy location. And there really isn't a price difference. The 5bedroom cabin we stayed in, this price is the same from March 1st - May 26th. I don't know about the 12bedroom we rented last year...but...I really don't think the price difference will be that significant with as many people who stay. (Plus, we get a discount for being repeat customers) Our 5bedroom was key on location this year, no crazy killer drop offs...but I would say the customer service blew & the beds were not so comfortable.
So, to summarize that, huge cabin next year & push the date back a few weeks. If Ben is up to it again, I'll help collect money with you like we did last year.
The one toolboxx mentioned is AWESOME.
(I cant post links yets so click on his link to view cabin)
I booked just to see the pricing. Checking in on FRI March 23 and checking out on SUN March 25 is $4018.00. I looked at the prices 2 weeks from the above dates and its the same thing. Parking is limited to a max. of 4 cars. The driveway area is paved, centrally located 4 miles from Pigeon Forge, it is off of Wears Valley Road, which is near Mels Diner. Local discount would be 10% off each night. Pool and Theater Lodge has 8 Bedrooms, 6.5 Bathrooms and sleeps 30.
I called Eden Crest (cabin i will be staying at in 2 weeks)
go to edencrest......com(take out extra periods(LOL)
then scroll down and click on 5+ bedrooms
scroll down and click on poolish behavior
Using the same dates as above (23rd and 25th) the price is $1250.00. Parking is limited to max. of 5 cars. The driveway is paved, and is also located off of Wears Valley Road. There is no local or group discounts.Poolish Behavior has 7 Bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and sleeps 40.
The only problem that i am having is there will not be enough parking for all of us. Pricing would depend on how many people would be attending. what is a roundabout # of attending and what is everyones price ranges? Just so i have an idea when i call more places. There is a BIG price difference on each cabin for sure. Anyone else have other cabins in mind?
@ no1lykzasmrtazz, what is the name of that 12 bedroom you were talking about?
Stenger didnt you say you were going to make a trip out to Gatlinburg? Do some scoping out for large cabins with large parking areas. Also from the photography stand point it needs to be amazingly scenic like last year. I really missed seeing an epic sunrise this year.
I think i found the perfect one...IMO. LOL!!!! it is on sherwoodforestresort.............com (take out the periods)
click on 6+ bedrooms, then click on Nottingham Lodge.
I talked with a representive and she said that this lodge has a max. of 20 parking spaces. AWESOME! all the details are on the site. Pictures are awesome. Pricing would be around $2799.00, if anyone has AAA it would be around $2547.00 down deposit is $1169.00. sleeps 44, 11 Bedrooms, 10.5 bathrooms. It is a gated community. Rep told me it was at one point going to be a event center and at the last minute turned it into a lodge. It is located at traffic light # 10 in Pigeon Forge Conner Height Road(last traffic light before entering the spur into Gatlinburg) Only downside is it is NOT A GOOD VIEW. the forest is behind the lodge. Swimming pool located right next to the lodge but might be kinda cold. 2 hot tubs on deck. Looks dang good to me!

Hmmm, I am digging the sound of this ^^^ the view does not really bother me, I don;t plan on staying in the cabin the whole time, If I want to see "pretty stuff" then I will go drive around.
Steff, I don't have a problem with it as long as no one else does. Just for the record when i mentioned to push this out a couple weeks I had checked my work schedule and if we keep it as is I can make it the next 2 years without having to take vacation but if we move it i'm back to taking a vacation to make it again but that's the sacrifice we make to do what we love lol.
Sorry I had to look through a year's of e-mails & find Ben's e-mail. Last year our 12 bedroom cabin was called Sequoyah Manor...through The Preserve Resort 3031 Hickory Lodge Drive
Sevierville, TN 37862 - (865) 934 - 1370 (Local Phone)....& that one for Friday & Saturday night was about $2500

I was agreeing with you about Dan. There has been some guys on here just bumping dead/old threads and using one liners judt to get their count up. I was just saying that he didn't do it that way it wasn't pointed towards you I just used your name to reference that he got his 30.
I know it's been 3 years and running for a lot of the BITS crew and te Dragon has come up every year but we've not been able too do it.
Most of us know how times don't always match up with the schedules we set. IMO I think that if the road is open we should hit the Dragon instead of the cruise to Newfound Gap. Either way maybe we should start making some sort of agenda.
After Melissa's biscuits and gravy lets hit the Dragon.
