Wow, I think I can safely say if you can't match a color, they don't make it.

Re: xB's euro cousin: Toyota Yaris Verso/FunCargo

Yesterday I got myself a new set of speakers for the car. Well at least new to me, they were secondhand.. Which is pretty handy considering their retail price when new

Well, let's try this again and actually post it in the correct thread!

I wanted the tweeter and midrange in the a-pillar, and the midbass in the OEM door location, so first thing was to find a spot for the top end:

The speakers come with their own mounting plate, so I traced around that to make a cutout:

Then it was time to adjust the plate inside the car:

I wanted the speakers more flush to the a-pillar, but the depth of the midrange driver demanded more space (not much clearance behind panel), so it ended up like this:

Next step was to pull speaker cloth over the panel and hotglue it to the pillar, to make a transition from panel to pillar:

Then soak it in polyester resin to make it hard:

Some bodyfiller and sanding (well a lot) later, and it was ready to be trimmed. I used light gray speaker cloth as it matched the interior pretty well.

It came out like this:

With speaker grille:

Now to do it all again for the other side

I'm in negotiation about some wheels now, I really want to spill my guts about what they are, but won't until I know they are mine

Re: xB's euro cousin: Toyota Yaris Verso/FunCargo

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I had the car in for inspection earlier this week, and it passed right away!

I had figured that I would have to expect just as much in repairs that I paid for the car (about $800) but no, only minor issues like changing a few light bulbs, a small exhaust leak (have the parts to fix it) and other minor things.

So very happy with this! It's not like the car is new, it has done over 150K miles (244k km) and is 14 years old.

Re: xB's euro cousin: Toyota Yaris Verso/FunCargo

So... The wheels I mentioned, now they are paid for and collected. They are on the other side of the country so a friend will keep them in storage there until next time I am over there.

They are OEM Ferrari 348 wheels, 7,5x17" front and 9x17" back.

Quick PS mod just to get a general idea:

Hot or not?

Re: xB's euro cousin: Toyota Yaris Verso/FunCargo

that speaker setup you put together is so well done it looks stock! this is a unique build here. I wanna see some pics of the "quirky interior features" you speak of lol.

"The xB makes a statement. It's not quiet. The xB is not the status quo, and its not going to compromise. Its radical change. Its a paradigm shift. It's a revolution, and it's loud. The xB is here to shake things up. There's simply nothing else like it on the road. "-Scion Model Year Magazine 2005
