I am writing to ask a question before I do this so I dont violate any rules. I am posting an event for us here in Salt Lake. We have a bunch of businesses sponsoring us. What are the rules about putting their business names and their logos on the forum in the post for the event?

There's no problem with that. You'll see that the events section are full of flyers for shows and meets that have the sponsors listed.
