215 or 225?

new here...still waitin for my silver box to come in to the dealer...lookin around at wheels and some places package 17x7's (with 40 ofset) with 225's and some with 215's personally i would preffer the 225's since i like more rubber on the road but has anybody put either ones on? with the trd lowering springs? any rubbing or clearance issues?

I would go with the 225. You always want more rubber on the road.

Re: 215 or 225?

225's will be closer to stock sizing, i would run 215's and space those wheels out a bit.

Actually, 215/40's are closer in overall diameter to stock (as far as plus sizing is concerned), however people are running 225/40's for the sake of having a cushier ride.

Hmm, per your site:

Stock overall diameter: 23.74 in

With 215/40/18's: 24.77 in

With 225/40/18's: 25.08 in

the original poster was looking at 17" wheels, but i was plugging in the wrong stock tire size and going by the bb spec of 185/65/15... either way the 215s are a lot closer to stock size with a diameter of 23.77" overall diameter

Re: 215 or 225?

Opps, you're right! He did ask about 17's!! I plugged in the wrong numbers too...

D'oh! (Note to self: Pay attention.)

BTW, we should sticky that site as Plus Sizing 101.
