| under seat sub i've been looking for trunk space solutions. right now i have a 10" in a wedge box the trunk. every time i have to get under the rear cover, i have to pull it out. and since no one is making an enclosure (that looks well made!!!) for the right rear sunken panel, i was thinking of going under the front pass seat. has anyone tried this one http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...roducts_id=463 ? i contacted them and they said its about .3cf. does anyone know of a sub that works well with that space, that can handle 400w and has 2 voice coils? how is the sound with it being there. does it fill the car evenly like a rear fire? any info and help would be great. thank you!!! |

| Re: under seat sub well, damn good job on the build. i don't think i'm ready to tackle a fiberglass job just yet. i just got some good advice from "the other site" on an under seat sub and purchased a box that needs a bit of modification and a new fosgate 2ohm DVC sub. so thank you to ScionFred!!! and thank you to those who offered suggestions. and if this set up sounds like crap, whould you like to build me one of those??? |

| Re: under seat sub This is my 10" underseat sub setup. The box is 12"x13.25"x7.5", down-firing and has a volume of .3cf. The box is from Ebay, the stand-offs are made from 7/8" dowel rod with rubber slip-on feet and the driver is a 2 ohm SQ10 from eD. It fits well, sounds great, doesn't waste any cargo space and is unlikely to get any windows broken to steal it.
I had to relocate the black sensor module and the wiring connectors to the top of the metal rail and bend the sensor bracket arms up for clearance. There was one more connector towards the back that had to be relocated. I removed the metal bracket and just stuffed the connector under the seat cover.
Lvbitwiz: Great job on that box! I wish I knew how to do glass work.
whitebreadbox: I hope you noted that the box only has 4.25" of mounting depth. That's why I went with the 3" deep SQ10. If you got the shallow RF 10", it should work great. I don't recall if I mentioned it already but you'll need to caulk the driver-side panel seams in the box. I used a small squeezable tube because a caulk gun won't fit. I wish I could hear your finished setup.

hey fred, yes, you mentioned the caulking. i will be caulking and then putting the "b-quiet" inside it as well to dampen the mdf a bit. soaks up the sonic resonance. yes, the RF p3sd210 http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...n_US&p_status=
is a piece of art!!! from their recommendations, the box should be from .4-1.0cf with the best being .5cf i'm a bit worried about the box we have (.3cf) being too small. if thats the case, i'm only out $45 and i'll build my own and go back to the trunk area or fork out the cash for a custom, like a few pix up. i'll let you know how it turns out after the recommended 24-48hr break in on the sub. (wtf???) |

| Re: under seat sub Different year model but same concept. I did mine about a year ago and have loved it ever since. I have a 12" shallow mount pioneer premier I've mounted under the passenger seat. Check out my thread and it might help w/ ideas although mine is a 1st gen so measurements will be different. http://www.clubxb.com/forums/f23/122...n-lions-audio/ |

The ideal box size for the SQ10 is also .5cf but eD says that .3cf is okay. Obviously it's not ideal but a little poly-fill might help. I stuffed my box but can't say if it helped or not. I'm looking forward to hearing about your results. |

| Re: under seat sub well fred, got everything installed and it sounds like garbage!!! not saying that all of them will, but the RF sub i have doesn't match with the cu ft of the box we have. so, i'll be building one that will go under the front seat and fill the rear floor on the pass side. my daughters car seat is there so it will still be a downfire and built so that she can step on it to get in and out. of course, that will be when it warms up a bit. so i have the polk in the rear taking up space again, but at least it sounds good!! LOL. i'll keep you updated in a few months when i get the new build done. thanks for the help and interest!!! much appreciated!!!! |

Thanks, I'm not having much love with the suede though, I'm thinking of having it sprayed with line-x or just finishing it out and painting it |

I guess the box is just too small for your RF sub. The empty box is only .3cf and the SQ10 takes up about .0275cf of space and I believe your RF driver is a bit larger still, making your final volume between .25 and .275cf. The only other thing I can think of is that the speaker connector plug was a loose fit and had to be sealed with caulk but I suspect you already took care of that.
I suspect that the new box will sound much better. I'm sure that my SQ10 would sound better in a larger box too but it seems to work pretty well in this little box. |

I'm not a very seasoned audiophile so it's also possible that you're looking for a higher level of SQ than what satisfies me. All I can say definitively about my SQ10 under-seat box is that it sounds much better than my 10" Pioneer or Polk DB drivers did in a Q-Logic .66cf sealed box when fed the same 120Wrms. The Pioneer driver was spec'd for a .7-1cf box and the Polk was spec'd at .67cf, FWIW. |

| Re: under seat sub i did about the same thing as Lvbitwiz except mine is a little bigger and is a 12" MTX sub. It was my first fiberglassing project and it turned out pretty good IMO. I def like Lvbitwiz's box too...it looks clean |
