| Re: Rear view camera I am getting a rearview camera installed this Saturday and would love to get some feedback regarding placement.
It looks like the Boyo VTK350. Can't post a link for it yet.
They'll be drilling a hole in the back to mount it. I'd like to know if anyone has experience with this and what's the best spot for mounting? Suggestions so far are to the left of the license plate or smack dab in the middle of the lower bumper. At first I was thinking the lower bumper would be good but I don't want the camera to stick out like a sore thumb. Yet, if its to the left of the license plate will I still get a good field of vision? I had a camera on my old car mounted to the license plate which was at the left and wasn't able to see everything very clearly. Of course, it wasn't the highest quality camera but that is my only experience so far.
I'm doing this type of camera instead of one that is mounted on the license plate because I have custom plates and don't want to remove them.
I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you |

| Re: Rear view camera danikat: I don't know about you but I wouldn't let anyone drill holes in the outside of my car. I like being able to go back to stock with out alot of work or you might decide to change it up with a different one.
The two ways I have been planning on doing it is either a) removing the rear wiper and installing it there or b) running in from the dash back under the carpet around the area that the spare is in there is a rubber gromet you could put a hole in and run it down. Then mount it with some sticky 3m tape to the bottom lip of the bumper. For that to work you would need more of a flat rectangle camera like Sanyo CCA-BC200 Universal rear-view camera with image correction at Crutchfield.com |

It's my very first brand new car so I'm all about making it "mine." Yet, I really like your suggestion. I'll call my shop tomorrow and see if they're going to charge me a lot more to do that. But still, if you WERE going to put a hole in your car, where would yours be? |

| Re: Rear view camera I'd probably go with the square camera and have it mounted above the license plate, angled down, by the little button to open the trunk. |

| Re: Rear view camera - need help. Hello All,
I am having a rearview camera installed in my 2009 xB. I have the factory SNS. It turns out that wiring the camera is not merely plug and play (not sure of exact details, I'm not doing the install). Has anyone else run into this issue? If so, how did you end up getting the camera connected to the factory SNS?
There is a possiblity that my shop is going to purchase a whole new camera set up just to get the correct plug from it which, of course, is going to run into more money!!!
What do I do? |

| Re: Rear view camera It turns out that the SNS has a video out, but no video in. Would you happen to know if it is still doable? Can they rig something? Or am I SOL? |

Although I wouldn't mind a better head unit, I think they're going to really ream me on the price, even though he says it'd be at his cost. I'm thinking about just walking away from this, saving some money up and going someplace else. Not sure yet. Just terribly disappointed. |

| Re: Rear view camera Anyone install a camera on the 2010 Alpine unit? It has a camera in on the back and I haven't played with it yet but I'm wondering if there is something more you need to do, more wiring to get it to work. |

| Re: Rear view camera I am also thinking about installing a BU camera in my RS6. I like the idea that many people have done by installing it in the removed wiper hole, but up here in NY, I really need my wiper. What camera have people been mounting in the wiper hole? I like the idea of it being flush mounted and internal and I don't mind drilling a hole in the door to have that happen. |
