Bigger is Better

Well I decided to tear into my doors and take out the 6" mid and put in the new RF 8" mid and tweeter. Little cutting, little making and there you go. 8" mid in the door now.

Looks good!

Does your window go all the way down? And did you get all the metal shavings out of the door, if rain gets in there you are asking for your doors to rust out like an old classic.

x2!? Does the window protrude into that area at all, if so how much space is available there when it's down?

The window does not go all the way down in that area. It is very close though. As for the shavings. Yes I got them out of there. Yeah they sit in there and get all rusty.

Re: Bigger is Better

Hey NoLImitz, do you have a sub in there or does that speaker take care of it all? Nice DIY!

Re: Bigger is Better

technically you dont NEED an amp, but without one, larger speakers like that are going to sound like crap

Re: Bigger is Better

if you put a spacer between the speaker and the door do you think you could roll the window down?

Re: Bigger is Better

You may be totally right, I kinda remember reading in another thread on SL that it doesn't go all the way down though.

UPDATE: Must have been my imagination..... I just went over to SL and looked, couldn't find anything about the windows rolling all the way down.

Now I'm pretty certain your right since someone else here has said they have 8's and their windows go all the way down too....hell, I had 8's in my first gen and my windows rolled all the way down and seems like I had even less room there!
