| Amp rack pictures n stuff like that 3/4 MDF and 1/4 inch melamine
Amps countersunk
Yep, it fits
little primer, little spackle
sanded and more primer
More pics to come.. Still not sure if I want to paint the thing or have it carpeted. My interior is black so it would have to be black.
Suggestions and comments welcome. Why else would I take the time to post this? |

| Re: Amp rack pictures n stuff like that I did at first, but it sounds soo good this way, I might not. I made that box for the type X woofer the same dimensions as reccomended from alpine website. The woofer is so deep that there is not many options to enclose this beast. Its 8.5 inches mounting depth!

| Re: Amp rack pictures n stuff like that Underneath
Ignore the speaker wire, I ran short, its not long enough to go underneath.
Peekaboo
Custom but very simple wedgebox, .8 cubic feet internal airspace
Media center
For now the woofer is strapped in but I want to put a bracket on it somehow, more on that later..

| Re: Amp rack pictures n stuff like that AHAHAHAHA, I knew I would hear about the ghetto strap. But not sure I want to put the bracket through my black cardboard thing into my amprack(like planned), and then change the woofer to a really cool fiberglass box (replacing the left side plastic jack holder.) Still not sure what I want to do..
Texicali, Like I said before, Id love to have a part in building that box.. for fun! I dont think I have ever even seen an 18.. Used to have 2 15 inch pyles in a bandpass boxx.. it was amazing. But never an 18. If you have experience with ports and tuning ported boxes, Id love to learn some and let you use my tools/garage. I wish I could make this my job, I love doing custom boxes!
I cant wait to experience with fiberglass in my xb...

| Re: Amp rack pictures n stuff like that Custom Box 101 (Sedan) LOTS OF PICS - Toyota Yaris Forums - Ultimate Yaris Enthusiast Site
Thats a link to my wifes yaris system. She blew her 10" type R. Now I have to make a decision.. Should I donate the 12 type X to her and get myself something new? Or do you guys think I should just replace her 10 with a more wattage one?
Few facts: The Yaris has a m1000 Alpine mono amp - 1000 watts rms.
The type R that blew handles 500w rms and 1000 peak.
The type X handles 1000 rms and 3000 peak.
I have my xB system to the max most the time. I might benefit from a bigger/better woofer..
My XB has a m1005 Alpine mono amp, a bit heavier duty than the newer m1000 that is in my wifes car, but 1000w rms the same.
If I give her the 12, I gotta make her a box to fit her trunk and I get to choose a 15 or a different 12 or 13.5 for my car. If I get a replacement 10, simple and done.
Any suggestions?

| Re: Amp rack pictures n stuff like that I noticed today that the negative post on my battery had some acid burn on it. I feel the ground is too thin or just not enough.. I also feel that I need an optima but till I get some money, stock will have to do.
This is what I have come up with:
I wanted to use the stock ground with this thing, but the stock wire isnt long enough to reach the new terminal. Will this cause a problem? Good or bad, please comment..

| Re: Amp rack pictures n stuff like that not exactly sure what you're asking.
it doesnt matter where you ground it as long as you get a good metal connection |

| Re: Amp rack pictures n stuff like that replace all your grounds with a good quality cable equal to the size of the power cable you rrunning to your amps. i ran a ground from the battery to the stock location, but aslo replace the factory grounds.your cable looks good, i would get some shrink wrap and wrap up that end real good though. |

| Re: Amp rack pictures n stuff like that Im working on my first ported box. I am using the specs off the alpine website for a 12 type X except I changed them a little bit. Instead of a 12x1 port, I am doing a 6x2" port. Also as of right now the port is only 19 inches long, and the specs call for 22 inches of port - not sure if Im gonna add 3 more inches or not, see how I feel tomorow. The other thing I changed was the back of the box is slanted. To keep the same airspace, I just added 3 inches to the bottom and subtracted 3 inches from the top. Heres some pix:
Will the tune of the box change much if I add the 3 more inches to the port?
Comments and suggestions encouraged...
Thanks

| Re: Amp rack pictures n stuff like that give me th full specs of the box and ill be able to help you better
but assuming you have 1ft^3 after port, then at 19 inches you will be tuned to more than 37hz
at 22 it would be more like 35hz. i would say shoot for around 33hz
and ideally you want to have 16 sq inches of port area per sq foot of box area (after port) |
