I don't know if this has been posted or not but have you tuned your radio to your car? If you turn on your radio and hold the SSP button for 5 seconds it tells you what car it is tuned for (xB, tC, xD). If it is not correct, just turn the volume knob and it will scan the other models. Stop when you get to xB and all should be good. Of course you may like it on one of the others, so leave it where you think it sounds the best.

We had the same deal with the OEM head unit in the 1st gen. Ours were set at the default setting which was for the tC.

tC setting sounds HORRIBLE.

Scion uses the same part for all models; it's cost effective. The "tC" setting sounds better in the tC, that's why they are programmable. Different body styles equate to different optimal speaker placement. The xB has different sound requirements due to the boxy shape.

wow i checked mine last night and it was set to tc. i have the xb. omg the sound is so much better. thanks for the guidance

i set mine when i bought the car. but i tried them all and found that it really makes a difference to have it set on the xb.

Mine was set to tC. I set it to xB and now the sound has gotten so much better.

I have only had my xb for about a week now, and am glad I found this. Mine was set to TC also. That must be the standard factory setting, as I have had my battery unhooked several times. The dealers should be setting this at the dealership, without this thread I would have never known.
