satilite radio questions

i know that in the radio manual it say to activate the xm all you have to do is call.
I was at radio shack today and was addvised that i should go with serious instead of xm. i explained that the radio was xm ready he told me that it didnt matter i could get serious or xm.. is this true. ( they sell both) so its not like he was just trying to sell me somethig, also is there anything else needed to buy to get the sat?

Re: satilite radio questions

Which head unit do you have? I have the Premium, and I had Sirius installed at the dealer. Mine also has instructions for activating XM in the manual, but no Sirius. However, it's simple. I just had to set up an account (you can do this online or by phone), and then you have have a few steps to complete the process. Note that if you choose to set this up online, make sure you can access the internet near your car. I just parked within wifi range of my house and brought my laptop in my car with me, lol.

It might be worth taking a wait-and-see attitude, though, since Sirius and XM has a merger deal that's supposed to be announced in the next day or so, and I don't really know how that will affect your options for plans, hardware, etc.
