Light bulbs for xB2

For quick reference, these are the bulbs as listed on page 254 of the owner's manual:

Code:

Headlight (hi) - 9005/HB3 (60W)
Front Turn/Park - 1157NA (27/8W) - Bayonet
Front Sidemarker - Wedge (5W)
Side Turn Signal - LEDs (0.4W)
Rear Turn Signal - 7440 (21W)
Stop/Tail - 7443 (21/5W)
Rear Side Marker - 7443 (21/5W)
Backup - 7440 (21W)
Third Brakelight - LEDs (3.6W)
License Plate - Wedge (5W)
Interior - Double End* (8W) - Festoon
Personal - Wedge (8W)
Trunk - Double End* (5W) - Festoon
* I believe Double End is what is called a Festoon bulb which usually are referred to by length in mm. When I find out more, I'll update this post.

Re: Light bulbs for xB2

It looks like Scion has installed some really bright headlights on the new xB's. I don't think we will need to upgrade them at all. I do think I will be adding some Yellow fog lights to my car when I get it. I think I may even look into using them as daytime running lights. I read somewhere that Yellow lights used during the day help oncoming cars see you better then regular headlights.

Here is link to some good info on lights. http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...ulb_types.html
The info on this site can be a little difficult to locate but the info is very good with some "how to do's" that may help some.

This is especially true if you have a white or silver car. Statistically drivers find it harder to see silver and white cars and make them more of a target to be hit. Drive with any form of lights on in the day will help prevent this from happening. Now I'm gonna go knock on wood that my new baby doesn't get hit!!!

Lets see, 3 times brighter would make them two times brighter than the hi beams! The current low beams are about 1200 Lumens and the hi beams are about 1700 Lumens. The current low beams are already brighter then most cars on the road hi beams. I don't think that would be a good idea. The idea is to be able to see objects and vehicles ahead of you and for others to see you, not blind others. There are already a lot of complaints about some cars having lights that are too bright causing problems for oncoming traffic. Blinding the other guy especially if he is a cop may not be in your best interest.

I think just making sure your lights are properly adjusted especially after making changes to the vehicle as far as height goes would go a long way to improving visibility. With many of the drop kits not lowering the car evenly and some folks putting different size tires on the front and rear this can really screw up the headlight aiming.

Question Re: Light bulbs for xB2

Since we are talking about HID's, does anybody know where I can buy some for my new '08 xB. I have been looking like crazy and still had no luck... it is very frustrating.

Re: Light bulbs for xB2

If you only want to upgrade your hi beams why not just change the 9005's to the 9011/HIR1's. These bulbs are almost a direct plug in, only a little filing on the bulb from what I understand. The stock bulbs are about 1700 Lumens and the 9011's are about 2350 Lumens. The price of the new bulbs are about $30 each. Make sure you get the Toshiba bulbs ONLY. The others may not be as good. Here are two links about the bulbs, do a search to find out more if you want to.

I would think this would be a lot cheaper then HID's and these are legal, used on the Corvette, Dodge Viper, and other cars.

I don't know of anything for the low beams. The low beams are already quiet bright compared to most other cars on the road, even brighter then many hi beams. You might try doing a google search to see if there are any bulbs that you can just plug in the low beams. My guess is because the low beams are already quite bright you will have to go with HID's if you need more light. I seem to remember reading here or on the other Scion group's page someone having a business that sells the HID's. You could also check Ebay to see what you can find. Do a search here and on scionlife to see what you can find under HID's.

if you search for 'h11 hid' on ebay, you'll get many results

Re: Light bulbs for xB2

I got my 8000k HIDs from Clifford at Mobile HID.
Not sure if this is OK to post here, but if you look him up over at ScionLife you can get the $170 price.
Malibu Rapper posted some nice pics and links to videos of the 6000k install on his 2008 xB.

I love mine.

One addition to the bulb list, the Scion Fog light bulbs are H11's.

Re: Light bulbs for xB2

Our lights are bright but still have that yellowish tint. Any other bulbs that would give a white tint without going with HID?
