I want to mod my steering wheel. I'll probably end up with the silver & gray Scion one 'cause it looks sharp. But I still want to have the silver/gray plastic pieces on either side of the assembly (see pic) removed and painted hyper-silver with clear coating. When done, they will match the rings around the AC vents that are being done now, along with some other pieces covering parts of the dash. (I'd also like to do the same with the radio controls, but that's another day.)

Does anyone know how to get these off without taking off the entire steering wheel? Help?

Take the airbag off. It's held in by torx thru holes in the back.
