| Re: Roll out the Dynamat :) I'm new to the world of Scion (about 1 week with 2nd gen xB) and sound deadening (about 1 minute of reading into this thread) I just wanted to see which is the better way to do this. www.quietcoat.com vs. www.dynamat.com |

| Re: Roll out the Dynamat :) i had about 80 square feet of dynamat extreme in my tC and it was definitely worth it for how much it deadened road noise and the sound from my various setups. it was extremely heavy though, made the car pretty sluggish |

| Re: Roll out the Dynamat :) I have had the Dynamat xtreme sitting in my car for awhile now, just have not installed it since it has been so cold (by CA standards). Doesn't seem to make the car less responsive. That said it is a lot of weight. |

There was some dynamat stuck to the bottom of the foam blocks of my tCs trunk and during disassembly to install more some of it ended up getting on the false floor. i think i went through 2 trunk packs and 6 of those little wedge packs |

I have some on the way for my xb I did my first gen and that thing is as quite as my bimmer. |

| Re: Roll out the Dynamat :) ^^^cascade makes some good stuff along with second skin audio. Usually it's cheaper than dynamat extreme too. Shop packs with 42 sq ft of vb2.5 are like 159.00 compared to the $200+ for 36sq ft of extreme. |

| Re: Roll out the Dynamat :) Yeah I just started on mine and have used one 12sqft. box already and bought another today. Hopefully that will finish up the rear and hatch area. The doors will have to wait cuz I'm paying $60 for the 12sqft box, but need it now and can't wait for ebay. It seems to be a bit cheaper on ebay. |

| Re: Roll out the Dynamat :) i'm actually in phase II of my dynamatting. when i had my old system in my car, i had done the rear hatch portion all the way until the back of the front seats on the floors. at that time, i didn't want to take apart my front seats or anything else. i had also done all four doors using all dynamat extreme. the first phase used up approx 72 sq ft of extreme. i just purchased an additional 144 sq ft to finish out my '05 xb which will consist of the front floor section as close as i can get to the engine firewall, the inner door panel sections, the outer portion on the rear hatch along with the rear hatch door, hopefully the roof panel and doubling up over the exhaust and the fender well. i might get in to doign the pillars as well. i'll let you all know how it goes, i'm starting the second phase this friday. |

| Re: Roll out the Dynamat :) i have found it to be easier to use during the summer. just unroll the sheets out on the driveway and let it heat up naturally and start to work your way through the car. I have found that you would need 3 layers in the front doors, floor, firewall to make the difference people are going after. I just did one layer of second skin damplifier pro and it wasn't enough to my likeing. so i took everything apart again and did 3 layers total. I need to buy some more to finish off the rear doors, rear floor pan and the cargo area...and maybe the rear hatch. I also did the roof and that made the most difference...now i can actually hear the bluetooth in the car. also, cuts down on the roof rack wind noise as well. I used about 160 sq ft of the damplifer pro...and i would need another 160-200 more? i used the back end of a screwdriver to get the crevices. just put wax paper over it to to rub..cause without the wax paper, you'll damage the aluminum layer. Another thing, get a gallon of alcohol and wipe off ALL of the panels that you are going to be installing this stuff. |

| Re: Roll out the Dynamat :) i think you should get second skin...rather than dynamat....
i've had a so so experience with dynamat....but secondskin....wow that things sticks!!!
allow me to clarify...i stated alcohol.....ACETONE!!!....that is what i meant...acetone works alot better at dissolving stuff than alcohol....kinda works but not as well as acetone..also, when you cut the sheets to size, cut it while it is cool. It will stick less to your sciossors. when you cut it when the sheets are warm, they stuff will adhere to the scissors and your are going to have a "fun" time cutting and peeling! the scissors I meant! if you get this stuff on your clothes or carpet...don't worry...acetone, hair spray...what ever you use to get gum out of your hair will work....WD40...etc..
