| Re: painted interior version 1.0 I've checked with a couple of painters and they recommend using a primer for better adhesion. It's only $6 a can and easy to apply and well worth the little bit extra to insure durability.
I'm using Krylon indoor paints: white primer (white instead of black since the color is light) matte metallic silver, and matte polyurathane clear coat to match the existing silver pieces. |

Thanks Saidas! You have no idea how long i've been searching forums on the best way to do this lil' project of mine. I plan on painting some pieces red and some white. I know to use white primer for the white, but what do you reccomend for the red??? |

| Re: painted interior version 1.0 At the last minute I decided to go with Dupli-Color (Pep Boys, Kragen) because their paints use a fan nozzle which gives a much better spread than a regular nozzle. They have the biggest color selection I have seen. Their paints are top notch and as the name implies, you can often get an exact color match for many car manufacturers. Dupli-Color doesn't make a satin finish clear coat so I used Krylon polyurathane. I did three coats each of primer, paint, and clear. Take your time mask carefully and you'll be happy with the results. What exactly are you painting? |

The shift boot is stock. You'd have to evaluate whether it'd make sense on an automatic. My guess would be no, but that's your call. My photo was really just to show the color scheme of the panels. |

Yes, thanks for pic, it did help on the color. You did a nice job. Since there that big dask indicater for the gear selection I don't think it would matter that the shift gate was covered..
I've got a few other mods that are higher priority so there time to sort it all out. |

| Re: painted interior version 1.0 Great job. The grille looks pretty good, never would have thought of that. Most people just replace, rather than paint. |

| Re: painted interior version 1.0 ocotillo - It looks great! is that the real leather?
Would you mind taking a side pick with the car in "D".
I can't tell from the pic if the shift knob is a ball or if there is some type of a Sleeve between the ball & boot?
Thanks |

Thanks | It a ball that tapers down to a shaft!
It is not leather, but you can order leather. I got the non-textured pleather. Stitching is grey but looks blue in the picture due to my led dome light. |

| Re: painted interior version 1.0 Thank you for posting that for me, NOW I understand.
Did the installation go smoothly? Would you rewcommed this boot & the company?
I am planning on a simple round ball shift knob. I was concerned about the gap between the boot & the shift knob for what I want to do. It looks like the hole in the boot that the shifter rod goes through is about twice as large a diameter as the rod itself? YES?
So is the boot going to stay up or go limp? I'm reading this rsponce and cracking myself up over all the comback responces. |
