| Re: Armrest Going into Production... I just finished up some arm rests. I used some 1/4" ply, closed cell foam and imitation black leather to create the door rests. I also did work on the arm rest for the driver. I gutted the factory rest. The rest has a plastic skeleton inside. I lengthened the rest to 16" and made it wider to 2 and 3/4 inches. I used 3/4" plywood turned on edge to enlarge the arm rest skeleton. It is wider at the front and tapers back so that the center compartment lid can lift. It just barely touches it. The sides and bottom are 1/4" closed cell foam and the top edge is 1/2" closed cell foam. The covering and foam covering was done by upholstery shop in my town. They charged me $75.00 for the work. It is way more comfortable than the factory rest.
I've got pictures to post but since I'm a newbie I have to wait until I've got 30 posts on this forum and with this one I'll have seven. |
