ScionLife View topic - Scion Navigation System Subwoofer Install DIY - W/ Nav Fix

There is the nav fix so you can play with your nav and drive.

Don't know what to tell you about the AUX. It all should be the same thats how come Toyota dash kits and harnesses work with Scions.

Re: 08' navigation system

Thanks for that info.

Specifically though, I want to know if my unit is defective. Are you saying that the limitation with selecting MP3s on my disc is designed that way?

Thanks again.

All nav makes it so you can't change songs when driving unless you bypass it. Its so that your not distracted when driving. Thats why when you stop it allows you to change songs.

Re: 08' navigation system

Weird. I don't recall my factory unit limiting my MP3 selection while driving...

Re: 08' navigation system

No, with the 2009 Corolla's regular factory radio. Although I only had the car for a few weeks, I think it let me select all songs and folders on my MP3 disc. Would that be different on the Corolla's factory nav radio?

Re: 08' navigation system

Your talking a base radio? Apparently dealers think navigations are more dangerous than regular radios thats why they lock them out. Good thing I got my cell phone, kids in the back seat and coffee to keep me occupied during my daily commute while I wait for the songs to change...

Start your search here: 08 Scion xB Navi units

As far as price, it'll vary according to your budget. Just don't expect to get all the bells and whistles when you only want to pay for the bells...

Tape off both ends so no wire is showing. I believe its the VSS wire that tells the nav your actually moving. Maybe someone else can say for sure. I didn't have to do it with my nav.

My Corolla's in-dash 3.5mm AUX input plug worked fine with my old factory radio. Again, ALL old harness plugs that were plugged into my old Corolla factory radio are now plugged into the back of my new Scion nav radio.
I am having this same exact issue in my Scion xB 2010. The stock (reviews.cnet.com/i/bto/20090415/001_2010_xB_standard_Pioneer_audio_610x386.jpg) Pioneer head unit worked perfectly fine with the built in axillary and USB ports built into the center console. The servicemen at my dealership have no idea why it doesn't work. I am upset because this is a feature advertised for the Scion Navigation System and it doesn't work with my Scion xB. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 08' navigation system

I live in Puerto and recently bought the Navigation system for my 2008 scion xb through ebay. I got it installed but found out the HARD way that the SNS don't have any maps for my country, so I can't use the GPS. Does anyone know how to get the maps for Puerto Rico? I've already spoke to Toyota Puerto Rico and the dealer where I bought the car and no one knows anything about it.

Please somebody help me

Did you set your location? Most other navs have Puerto Rico as the North American map. So it should work. Can't help you too much because I don't have the factory nav to mess with.

Re: 08' navigation system

Well I tried setting the locations but I only find the maps for the continental USA and Hawaii. I believe that it is a problem with the generation of the navi disc because I heard that the new model (2010) has the maps for Puerto Rico.

Could there be a way for me to play the navi disc of the new model on my system?

Re: 08' navigation system

I am not sure maybe someone else can chime in. I thought they changed manufacturers of the nav in 2010. Do you know who actually makes the navigation part (maps) of the system?
