How to remove and smoke taillights

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to properly dissassemble the rear taillights and how to smoke them.

Also, if anyone has done this, can you please post pics? I have a white xB, and the bright redness of the taillights are a little too bright for my taste. I wanna smoke them out to achieve a cleaner look.

Thanks

Re: How to remove and smoke taillights

Most of the time the tailights aren't taken apart when they are smoked. It is a long process of spraying tint and sanding on the exterior side. But what would make this tricky is the complexity of the 08+ xb's tailights.

oh...well, i know that it had to be done, simply because when Five Axis did a build-up for Siphon magazine, they smoked the taillights on a white xb. the look is nice, so I was just wondering if it's possible. I agree that the taillights are complex...which kinda sucks, but there has to be a way.

I don't know how well it would cover the complex surfaces but I used a spray on product on my VW on the side markers (pretty flat). I used VHT Niteshades which is made to tint tail lights. Application was easy and seemed to last very well. I think I used 2 coats on my VW side markers.

I think I got mine at PepBoys.
