Has your 2008 xb windshield cracked?

Hello,

I see many 1st gen xb drivers posting issues with the windshield cracks. I am think about buying a 2009 xb, but only if the windshield issue has been resolved....

If your windshield in your 2008 xb has cracked multiple times within the first year, could you let me know?

I have had an 09' XB for well over a year, and have never had any issues with window cracks... Go out and get one you'll be happily surprised with the new look and handling.

I purchased on of the first 08 xbs sold in indianapolis. my stereo hits around 90 db no issues at all with window cracking.I have owned the car for almost two years.

Keep in mind high powered stereo systems will crack any window in just about any car over time. If you do not want subs in your car you will be fine. My installer loves how the xb pressures up when lighting up the stereo system. So the main question is how many of the cracked windsheilds had a set of subs in the back of the car also.

No offense, but I initially thought this was a joke. The primary issue with winshields and the Gen 1 has a lot more to do with aerodynamics and rocks than stereos and subs. So, to answer your question with tongue firmly planted in cheek, until there are no more rocks and debris on the roads, then no, the problem has not been resolved. I say, get the xB, you'll thoroughly enjoy it, and the Scion family!!!

I have an 08 xB. I heard about the L shaped cracked windshields, so I checked it out before I bought mine. The windshield problems were with the 06's. There was one guy who had to replace his windshield 8 times in 6 months! Anyway, from what I read (and I researched many sites), with the difference in the body frame and the slope of the windshield on the 2nd generation xB, Scion fixed the problem. So enjoy your new xB! We love ours!

Oh yeah, and from all the research I did on the windshields, the cracks happened from just sitting in the garage, etc... Nothing caused the cracks, they just appeared.

08 xB here. plenty of rock chips but no cracks yet. 20k mi so far.

I am looking at purchasing an xB and was curious about the rock chips. Do you feel that you get more rock chips with an xB than with a normal car?

I have an 08 XP with about 25000 miles and have yet to get so much as a chip. Splats alot of bugs though

Good to hear. I hadn't heard much about the "rock chip" issue until I got on here. Hopefully I am the new owner of an 08 xB soon.

Cool man. You're gonna love it. I found another "rock chip" thread here and it looks like it's more the first gens that are getting busted being so boxy I suppose.

I posted earlier about the 1st Generation xB windshield cracks. I have had my 2008 for about a year now. Today I noticed an L shaped crack on the driver's side near the vin #. I'm calling my dealership on Monday, since I discussed the windshield problem BEFORE I bought my car and they told me they fixed the windshield problem with the old xBs. The crack just majically appeared.

My window just cracked it did like a "C" shape starting from the edge and there was now rock chip or nothing hit it. 2009 scion xb 15000 miles.
