Gen 2 Woody Kit!!!!!!

Woody Wagoon and Scionpro Inc have joined to create the first Gen 2 Woody kit! The sample car is going into the shop this week and the full kit will be available in two to three weeks complete with raised wood trim. The sample car is black with half moons, wide whites and red outer rim trim...so it will be a total complement to the retro look! Stay tuned for pictures and pricing.

Re: Gen 2 Woody Kit!!!!!!

Sounds interesting!

How are the headlights being handled?
I am a huge fan of the look of the 30s-50s cars, and 60s sports cars.
I am planning to make mine "retro-ed" to be like a 1950s delivery truck.

The issue for "old-schooling" the xB2 is that the headlights and taillights look rather modern. The taillights are not "insurmountable," as they aren't overly modern, unlike many new cars with the lEDs and complex chromed structures under a clear cover.

The headlights look modern, period.

So, are they keeping the stock headlight or are they making a "retro" version or cover?

Re: Gen 2 Woody Kit!!!!!!

I was merely offering my input for the lack of prompt response, and inadequate information. You yourself promised pictures within the same day to next day back almost 10 days ago. So if you would like to get into it my juvenile comment was inappropriate however as someone offering a promised product you might want to leave a little room for error when promising a product.

Regarding the box it looks amazing and if I owned a 2nd gen it would be my #1 choice!

Re: Gen 2 Woody Kit!!!!!!

Prego FYI I never promised photos...... the kit was done when I said it was going to be. It took this long for the person to get Steve photos.

Re: Gen 2 Woody Kit!!!!!!

Looks rather nice, actually.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but am pleasantly pleased at the result.

Constructive criticism (ideas that could improve the look, if possible):
-Extended the rear of the kit back a bit further, so that it lines up with the rear door edge line.
-To look more like "the real thing," have the OPTION of vertical slats on either side of the door edges (which would also allow someone to leave off the front fender section).
-(maybe) Have the option of a extension kit that takes the wood look into the window and back corner (c-pillar) section, also to increase the look to be more like the "real thing."

What I have been looking at is this site (for a 50 Ford Woody):
'50 Ford Woodie -- Home
Notes were taken off of what was on that "Shoebox Woody."

All in all, GREAT WORK!
That is a Woody kit I would actually think about getting and MUCH better than one's I've seen on PTs and HHRs.
The raised "frame" pieces make a marked difference and make it from a "sticker tack on" look into resembling an actual woody. I know those are more expensive that simple vinyl, but make the kit.

(My comments were intended as possible improvements or later possible options for that wonderful kit. It is close enough to the look of "the real thing" that a few alterations or added parts would enhance the look to a remarkable level.)

Now, if only some "retro" headlight kits became available to compliment that "classic" look of that kit . . .
(Patience, my padawan, patience . . .)

That last part "Stay tuned for pictures and pricing" seems to imply picts . . .

"The kit is already mocked up and should be done today or Monday." implies that something might be posted sooner rather than later.

At least, that's how I interpreted it.
Sorry, if that was not the intention.
Thanks for posting them anyways! They look COOL!

Re: Gen 2 Woody Kit!!!!!!

Sorry for any confusion people.... the car was mocked up in the Chicago area, Steve is in Florida and I am in the Detroit area. We can only post photos as soon as the people involved either making the kit or the owner of the car provide us with photos.

We got them up as soon as we could. Again my apologies for the delay.

Re: Gen 2 Woody Kit!!!!!!

What is it made off? Is it just vinyl? If so, that is lame. It looks good, but I hope it is more than just vinyl.

Re: Gen 2 Woody Kit!!!!!!

Oh, and by "real thing," I mean the woodies from the 30s to the early 50s that actually used a real wood back wherein wood was the actual structure used to make the wagon, rather than a facade (as they became later).
One of the last of the "real woodies" was the "Shoebox Woodies" of the 50 Ford and Mercury. The more squared off sides and front of the "Shoebox" bodies would make a good visual reference for an xB2 kit, IMHO.

What I like about the prototype shown is that the wood "beams" is actually raised, rather than flush like a sticker.
