caliper paint???

I want to paint my calipers but I'm not sure what kind of paint to use. I know it has to be heat resistant of course. Do I need primer? Do I need a clear or protection coat? What brands? Any hints or suggestions to make this easier?

Re: caliper paint???

I used G2 Caliper Paint.

Website: G2 - producer and distributor of the G2 BRAKE Caliper Paint System Set and other high quality carstyling and performance products.

Look at my signature and go to my car domain and look at some pics.
Click on the side view images and see if you think it turned out good. I actually painted mine orange. My brother used dupli-color and it seems to work great as well. Just make sure you use caliper paint because of the heat. Note: Most paints say you might have to re-paint them every 6 months. I don't think you will and it only took me about 8-10 hours to finish the project.

G2- 980 degress and around 45.00 dollars (has more color options)
Duplicolor- 500 degrees and around 20.00 dollars (can buy at auto zone)

Re: caliper paint???

I used the duplicolor kit. Just cleaned the calipers with brake clean. Haven't notices any chips or anything yet, but it's only been about a month.

Re: caliper paint???

another paint you can use would be dupli-color engine anamel. its for high heat and looks great!

i would recommend a good cleaning and some primer just in case.

Re: caliper paint???

I also used the G2 brake caliper kit. It's actually a two-part epoxy. It dries very hard and should last a LONG time. It comes with a can of brake cleaner. I went a little overboard on the cleaning (even though my car was only a month old - better safe than sorry) and had to buy another can of brake cleaner at Autozone.

I already posted these in another thread, but here's a couple shots of my finished calipers:
