Any other 08/09 XB Windshield Stress Cracks?

I read previously about the stress cracks mostly on the 06. I was told that the problem was fixed with the new body style. I have an 08. It has less than 22,000 miles. To make a long story short, an L shaped crack majically appeared on my windshield while it was parked in the garage. Does anyone else have a crack on their windshield on the 2nd Generation?

No problems here, although I did replace the windshield after a minivan launched a rock at it and cracked it pretty good.

Any chance you took a rock hit that you didn't notice until it grew? The initial crack on my windshield was less than a few inches, but after sitting in the heat of summer, it grew another foot.

never seen or heard any stress cracks on gen2s. only gen 1s.

i have an 05 that i just bought and no cracks but a shit load of chips and scratches...is that normal for the car? i feel like buying a new windshield but i dont know where to find a cheap one.

my windshield on my 08 was junk,nothing but chips and cracks.rplaced it with a good namebrand glass and no moree problems

I did the same thing happened to me and my scion dealer here in so cal repaired it for me free of charge then I got a massive ass rock thrown at it no less then a month later and ended up go to my sponsor for another windshield. Im on my third now hopefully this one will last me knock on wood!!!

I own 08 and I believe my crack is due to body flexing. Even before I got the crack I would hear crackling sounds coming from the windshield specially in freezing temps. If you dont have a crack yet pay attention next time it's very cold outside and turn off your radio when driving in a not so perfect road.

I ended up having a crack on my windshield about a month after i bought my XB brand new, so i read up on this stress fractures, i took it to the dealer and they pointed up that it was a chip i looked at it, and it must of been the smallest chip ever, but it was there.

I just got my stress fracture over the weekend. I've picked up about 4-5 rock chips in the last year, but the one I got Friday on the way home was right on the edge of the window. The cold has now streched the crack about 6 inches. but I don't want to replace the window yet, waithing till Spring. hoping the crack does not open to far.

if your xb is still under warranty. take it back to the dealership and get it taken cared of. if no warranty. go after market/local auto glass, it's cheaper. i hope that helps. good luck.

It's still under warentee however through my insurance I have full comp ($0) and don't have to pay anything for the glass either way...

I took it to the dealer too,. after I got the crack and got denied they where able to pin point the chip in the glass with a ball-point pen, gotta-be kiddin me. I should of took it to the dealer when I was getting that crackling sound instead.

If anybody's windshield is making sounds specially now in the cold take it to the dealer. When you're driving and going over bumps or road that has cracks, turn-off your radio and listen. Lets see what Toyota has to say about this, specially with todays current events. Lets us know if any body takes it to the dealer prior to the crack and whats the outcome..

thats exactly what they did to me, with a ballpoint pen picked out the little chip right on the edge of the glass.

They did the ball point pen with me also =, but they said they would take care of it for me. Thank you toyota of Orange lol but if you need any windshield issues resolved if you in southern california take it to Scion Place in garden grove those guys are awsome and will help you with any problem. there a BIG Scion plus when it comes to fixes or services. Just tell them I sent you and they will take care of you for sure.

i had my xb since summer 07 and i cracked my wind shield 4 times..lmao but it was all from rocks some how it attracts them i do drive on the highway alot tho

But Scion never heard of any stress cracks (they told me so themselves). My stress crack was probably from a chip. (I used to be a glass worker and it did not come from the chip. I had glass insurance so I did not make a huge fuss over it.)
