| 08 A-pillar tape removal Well I got to my first mod, and it took slightly longer than it did to get through my first tank of gas. Something was always bugging me about the front end and it finally dawned on my one day looking at Jason's(scvscions) that after the paint job his A-pillars were blue and not the usual black. Since the black is just a vinyl graphic over the paint I went ahead and removed it this morning. Looks much better.
First a comparason between removed and still on.
Close-ups of both.
I found it's easiest to start at the top back corner and work the inside lip off first and then work you way around to the section tucked under the windshield rubber. You can heat it slightly, to add with removal, with a heat gun set on low but only for a brief time.
All finished. Ignore the dirt I haven't washed it yet.
Comments, criticism?

| Re: 08 A-pillar tape removal Looks nice! Removing the a-pillar tape on mine was my first mod as well. Looks so much cleaner without it. |

| Re: 08 A-pillar tape removal i think i am going to go ahead and remove it on mine as well ... is it tucked under the gasket for the front window? or just up to the edge of it? |

| Re: 08 A-pillar tape removal It's tucked under the cagket all along the windshield and at the bottom. The bottom is easy to get loose, along the windshield it tucks enough that you need to work at getting all of it out. |

| Re: 08 A-pillar tape removal Ah, that's what your PM was about. Got to be a little more specific than ' can you send me some pics about what your talking about?', as this isn't my only post.
Don't know why you aren't able to see them, it's a straight link to photobucket. Try this link for a slideshow. http://s161.photobucket.com/albums/t...view=slideshow
That might help. |

| Re: 08 A-pillar tape removal Paint is perfect, no difference from the rest of the body. The vinyl is just an overlay and the glue comes off with it. |

| Re: 08 A-pillar tape removal I have a BSP version and just did the A pillars and it came out great. I love the look. So I started the door frames and darn it... the first door frame I did was the passengers side front and the paint under the tape had an area that was bad. Looked like someone hit it with a buffer way too long and damaged the paint. I did not even bother taking the tape the rest of the way off. I was pissed as not it is half done.
I am going to contact dealer but doubt they will do anything as they will probably say it is not meant to come off. Anyone else have any issues with paint under the tape? |

| Re: 08 A-pillar tape removal Don't know on mine as I plan on leaving it. With the white it would show through the gap between the windows and look wrong. |

| Re: 08 A-pillar tape removal I still havent done it yet... Is it even worthwhile with a BSP? You might not even be able to tell the difference from more than 10 feet away.
I did it to the small area in between the doors. It was easy but I cant decide if I really like it all that much. I don't know. I really need someone that did this to a BSP to post pictures! please?
