| Springs and Shocks, or Coilovers... Hey All, I'm thinking if springing for some coilovers (sorry for the pun..), instead of the Springs and shocks method of lowering my xB. Anyone have any input on which would be better? I assume the Coils would be, and my choice looks to be the KSport Pro models (around $900) over the Tein Basic (no adjustable Dampening for arround the same price). I had originally thought of trd springs/shocks or another aftermarket setup (DF210 maybe)
One thing I also have a question on is most of the coilovers just say they are 04+ and don't specifically say either '08 or '09, will they fit? Dose anyone have any links to coilovers for the '08+ (mine is an '09). |

I'm thinking not much more that 2 inches all around, but I'm a performance junkie and I want to keep the car cornering like it's on rails. That said though I live in New England, and the winter weather is harsh and I'll have to raise it to save my eventual body kit... (another reason for Coilovers vrs springs) |

| Re: Springs and Shocks, or Coilovers... For most folks, I'd say to save money & do springs & shocks. Most folks will dial in their coilovers once & never look at them again, making them mostly a colossal waste of time, money, and energy. But if you're looking to drop the car before you get a body kit, buying the coilovers once may save you cash over doing springs & shocks twice. Plus, you do get the adjustable dampening with good coilovers, and that can make all the difference in ride quality. Naturally, if you ever plan to run track or autocross events, the coilovers will be a lifesaver.
Side question... is the suspension on the xB2 adjustable enough that you can lower it 2 inches & still get it into spec for alignment? My current ride (05 MIN Cooper S) can't be adjusted into alignment specs after even the mildest drop, due to non-adjustable lower control arms in the rear. (Average tire life on a MINI Cooper S seems to be about 18-22k miles, or 14-18k with performance springs, unless you get adjustable lower control arms)
When I get my xB (pending, 9/22), I want to look into springs & shocks (or coilovers, maybe) for performance, and I don't want an extreme drop. But I'd like to know that I don't need to go replacing half of my stock subframe & suspension components in order to get a decent alignment. |

As for the rear I just naturally assume I'll have the trademark tilted tires... |

| Re: Springs and Shocks, or Coilovers... The rear has no adjustment but the front depending on how low you go you will be able to get the correct alignment specs. |
