Problems with the TRD rear sway anyone?

I have the TRD rear sway bar and it makes such terrible noises. Sounds like thunder. I know its not on backwards or watever and the bolts are as tight as they can be. I think I might just have it removed for good. I just wanted to know if anyone else has this problem??

I had the bolts keep loosing up on me and making a bad popping sound. Alot of thread lock and over torquing it but 2 ftlbs fixed it.

Do you know were the sounds coming from on the bar?

Re: Problems with the TRD rear sway anyone?

I haven't yet got my hands on my xB, but I am considering using some TRD parts when I do start the mods. Did the TRD sway bar come with a packet of lithium grease, or other lubricant? Most sway bars should have a lubricant that needs to be applied to the bushings that hold the bar in place. If you don't lube those bushings, then as the bar rotates up & down, it will grind & growl.

I would start by checking the bushings for lube, and reapplying if need be. White lithium grease should work best, and is available at most any auto parts store for pretty cheap. (Under $5 for a small tube)

The annoying factor there is that you either need to get your car on a lift, or up on jack stands & shimmy under to check this.

Hope this helps.

They do come with some lubricant. With my TRD sway bar it was the bolts coming loose. There is no lock washer on them so either get one or use alot of thread lock.

I installed my TRD sway bar back in February exactly following the TRD instructions (no improvising and that includes the bolt and nut removal/installation at the shocks.) Haven't had any problem at all of any sort. No lock washers required if you use the correct procedure (as per TRD instructions.)

ive had mine on for about 4,000 miles now. no problems. check the bushings to see if you either pinched them or didnt put some grease in them.
