| My Breaks Hey guys, I have an 08 XB and I was just wondering, how often do you feel you need to replace your breaks? I think back in........ maybe december of last year I changed my breaks. Now when I come to a stop there's like this long squeal/whistle, and im thinkin I just changed my breaks not to long ago. Is there a specific brand that you would use to lessen this noise? I would expect a little tiny bit of whistle but this is clearly audible say when im slowing down for a red light. |

| Re: My Breaks it might be dirt or brake crude that built up. i always clean then real good and i have 70000 and only changed them once. oh and did you use the brake quiet stuff? it goes on the heat shield or back of the pads to help reduce vibration when you first start applying the brakes |

| Re: My Breaks the question about how often to change the brakes depends on your driving style/braking style. some people brake harder than others so thats all on a personal note. when u changed your brakes did you use oem pads or aftermarket? i know racing pads squeal because they brake harder than oem brakes due to the material that they use.
let us know what you changed it with and maybe someone and chime in on letting you know whats the deal. im not so great with brakes but i know that others are.
my bad if im not much help but yeah..... too bad LOL! =) |

| Re: My Breaks Another factor to consider is that automatic transmissions go through "brakes" a lot faster than manuals. But again, driving style is the major factor. Isnt about 40k+ average life for pads on most cars? |

| Re: My Breaks I have almost 38k and still have the original OEMs. Has anyone upgraded to the TRD pads? I think when I replace them, I will go that route. |

| Re: My Breaks i have the trd pads, they stop better than the stock ones..... but they give off so much brake dust like no other. if you dont mind wiping your wheels down at least once a week i say get them, but if you dont like being high maintenance i would say just get the oem ones or find some other pads that available. |

| Re: My Breaks If they stop better, Im sold. Is the pedal feel any different? I bet the TRD ones last longer than the OEMs too. |

| Re: My Breaks i kinda forgot how the oem ones feel like on the pedal, not sure if they last longer. i would assume they would wear more since they stop better. i havent check them to see what the wear was like. too lazy to take off my wheels to check how much percent is left on them |
