Thin tires absolutely could contribute to rough ride/sensitivity, but I'd worry about the "clank." Check all of your bolts for tightness. Also check for any breakage. I broke a tab on a rear sway bar and it clanked/thumped at low speeds, but didn't make a peep at normal driving speeds.
