Re: Hotchkis Sway Bars

I autox my box so putting in Hotchkis Competition Set and Hotchkis Street Coil Spring Set greatly improved my ride. a little stiff but handles great going into hard corners

i bought it from TRDSPARKS . COM
cost me only $205.95 that is the best deal i found it anywhere.

please note that i have Competition Set and not regular Sport Set

second gen Sport set cost

$ 266.25

Re: Hotchkis Sway Bars

Question, Most of the aftermarket Sways look like Pairs (other that the TRD). Are the Paired sets "tuned" if so I think I will spring for a paired set rather than just pop one in the rear end.

Re: Hotchkis Sway Bars

The TRD one is designed to work with the front sway ALREADY in the xB2.
The others are different designs and are sets that are designed to work together for a good balance.
Mixing front and rears is certainly possible, BUT only is a "good idea" IF you really know the various sway bars and are after a certain feel.
For everyone else, you are FAR more likely to make the xB handle freaky than to improve handling.

Oh, and I am planning to get the hotchkis sway set just as soon as I have enough cash and justifiable excuse to get.
It is a somewhat more "aggressive" set up than the TRD one, which is fine for 90% of xB drivers. The slightly bigger Hotchkis sways are what I am after.
Each sway set has its own designed-in pros and cons.
The TRD (stock front and rear addition) is a decent set up too.

This is probably a dumb quesiton, but since I am new to the xB I will ask it...heh Does a company make a chasis brace for this car or it doesn't even require one...

I think that Tanabe was making a center brace for the 2nd gen. I think it came out, but am not sure.

There is this one: Scion 2008 xB Tanabe Under Brace|Tanabe Sustec Under Brace|Tanabe Suspension Systems seems a bit steep for what you get.

Re: Hotchkis Sway Bars

First, you need some idea of what one is and what it does:
HowStuffWorks "How do stabilizer bars work?"
Sway bar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It does reduce body roll, but with the MAIN purpose of making the suspension components move less, and the wheels not move into odd positions as the vehicle corners.

Do you have any information on where the Hotchkis bars are breaking? Is it the front and/or rear bar?

Now I'm getting nervous...

I have front and rear bars and i love them, I still have body roll but not as much as stock and I have no lowering springs. I've heard if you lower the B, the rear sway might snap.

I just got my sway bar set today...my question is how much better would it be to add a strut bar to the top front?

I make the assumption it would make a difference. Possibly a large one given the fact that there is nothing in the normal body that connects the top end of the shock mounts to make sure they stay equal distance apart and remove the "flex" of the body when put under stress.

Not alot of difference unless you really push it hard. But other wise it looks good when you pop the hood.

Re: Hotchkis Sway Bars

Sway bar will reduce the body roll and strut bar will have sharper turn-in. I have both and they work great together.

Re: Hotchkis Sway Bars

Just installed my rear sway bar this weekend & I love it. I can actually take corners now w/o having to hold on to something :-) I can't wait to put the front one in about 2 weeks, I heard it makes the ride even more responsive. This will give me time to test out the rear more & to notice the difference between b4 & after the front sway bar.

Re: Hotchkis Sway Bars

I see threads on the sway bars has anyone installed the stage one kit that has springs and sway bars? Other than price what is the handling difference between say a stage 1 kit and a coil over set up?
