What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

I am hoping for 30 on the freeway at about 75mph. Does anybody get this kind of gas mileage after the "break in" period of 500-1000 miles?

I thought break in period was more than that? I could be wrong. I have noticed that I was filling up alot driving in traffic to work but lately I've been feeling up less.

Are there mods you can do to increase gas mileage?

try this.
1. put your stockers(wheels and air filter) back. track MPG.
2. take off filter tube(inside filter box), and filter snorkel. track MPG.
3. replace cotton filter with K&N filter. track MPG.
4. replace it with my custom filter, prolly short CAI will do it too.

on #1 i'm lucky to get 27MPG
on #2 I got lucky and gotten 28-29 MPG
on #3 I got lucky and gotten 29-30 MPG
on #4 I got 31-31.5 MPG.

*these are with combine street and HWY use.

How much is this custom filter you sell? I will be sure and get one as soon as our XB comes in. 31-31.5 works for me.

Sorry for the dumb questions but what does CAI stand for? Is this an air filter?

Re: What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

Yeah, it looks like AEM has come out with one. $238. So I can get better gas mileage, more torque and more hp. Wow this is a no brainer. =)

What about replacing the standard air filter (trd has one shown on scion.com), will that help mpg also?
Thanks for your help.

Re: What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

I am just basing this on my own experience, with my 1st gen xB. Of course, I tried to get my stuff as cheap as possible, weigh the pros and con. it would be best if you can wait a little and see what the market has to offer(group buy, classified sale, etc.). $238 is way beyond my limit.

With SEMA just around the corner, I'm sure we're going to see a few hit the market (so many toys...so little wallet)

I'm averaging 24 all city/rural and on my only highway trip I got 29. I have around 3500 miles on mine.

I also didn't realize this was a 2nd gen thread. I almost posted my 1st gen numbers. I'm going to have to pay more attention before posting, I suppose.

Re: What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

The computer usually says I get an average of 25 MPG. On the freeway without traffic I can get it up to 30. I filled up last night and calculated 22.3 MPG.The computer said 24.6. I've been playing with the S mode lately so maybe that didn't help. My usual 12 mile commute is in traffic going at about 25 mph.

I've only get 400 miles on my xB2. I'm hoping the mileage gets a little better.

Re: What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

I'm getting 22-30mpg with an average of 27mpg. IMO the best way to improve fuel economy is through your driving habits. Exhaust and intake mods won't help fuel economy much, if at all. The stock I/E are only restrictive at high rpm/WOT so CAIs and exhaust systems may improve peak HP and torque but not necessarily fuel economy.
