Re: What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

I'm averaging 25 with 99% city... and i drive fast as hell.... I'm not really sure how anyone could get 19... unless they were purposely trying to waste gas... but on the highway i can get upper 30's in cruise control

Re: What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

I have about 500 miles on mine.

When I picked up my car the dealer said they gave me a full tank of gas.

At 254 miles I filled up. The pump stopped at 10.3 gallons or 24.7 mpg. I kept playing for about 5 minutes and was able to squeze 12.5 gallons in (I always top off when I'm doing a baseline).

With 75% city/25% hwy but driving like an old man (hey i'm 50 LOL) and in in neautral coasting down hill I'm projecting about 25 topping off this tank full.

I should be filling up in 2 days & i'll post my exact #.

I'm very happy with the mix of performance, size and enjoyment of driving. I enjoyed the 1gen when I test drove them, but found them very buzzy, choppy but fun. After just a few minutes in the 2nd, I feel in love with it.

Re: What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

Getting 23.5 MPG......car is two weeks old and 900miles on the ODO.

can wait to switch to synthetic, to see if that helps. I also added an extra 2 lbs to the rear tires and 4 to the fronts. stock 16 inchers. I do about 70/30 highway/city

Re: What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

I am only getting 20-21mpg here in south Florida.

For some reason I have never gotten as good of mpg as other people in other parts of the country.

Im pretty easy on the pedal too.

I've been monitoring my MPG over the last couple days to and from work (95 miles RT). using the onboard computer and cruise control.

I notice at 75MPH, with the cruise on, i average 25MPG. It appears my trip takes me over a slightly hilly route, that I never noticed before. but watching the MPG computer, i can see it fluctuate greatly, as the cruise control tries to maintain the set speed.

Re: What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

Well I am getting near 4k miles now and I am also driving a lot more highway miles due to a new job. Last two tanks were 27 and 28 mpg. This is with my snow tires on...can't wait to get the 18s back on by I have to since I am driving up into the mountains for work and the weather up here is quite variable.

Re: What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

it seems to be improving. on the highway, to and from work, I can easily get 28-29mpg. but once I hit the heavy Philly traffic, I'm down to 22mpg or less. it avg out to be 23-25mpg. but I'm improving my technique, riding the torque line more, and taking the foot off the gas, as soon as I realize that I'm approaching a red right, and coast to a stop.

Is it possible the BP uses E10 (10% Ethanol) and Shell is just using 100% gas? E10 can hurt you millage, due to the lower BTU.

I also noticed that my mileage doesn't very that much on the highway, depending on the speed. I get about the same MPG if I'm doing 70MPH or 80MPH. I assume it's the VVT that allows the engine to have maximum efficiency, regardless of RPM, which is awesome. The other day, I was hauling ass on a flat stretch on I-95, and was doing 95mph, the computer said I was getting 26mpg. Not bad! when I slowed to 75, it jumped to 29mph.

My main problem is the awful local Philly traffic, when I exit off the highway...it can be gridlock at times, and it just zaps your mileage .

Re: What kind of gas mileage are people getting?

OK......soooo.....I did not get my 2nd gen xB for its fuel efficiency. but, in my "commute" to school (10 minute drive. not city not highway.) ill get about 20-22 mpg. i just drove to the shore (200 miles. mainly highway, at 70ish mph) i got about 30mpg.

Ive found that my "sweet spot" is driving at 40-50 mph but i could be wrong.

ill post more updates.

I'm averaging 24 MPG week to week. That is comprised of about 3/4 city, 1/4 Hwy.
