Vvt-i (itb's)

I have extra cash and some time and wanted to make some XB ITBS!

Has anyone done it yet?

I was thinking r1/gixxer throttle bodies, have my friend fab up a lil intake plenum and then fix the throttle cables.

I was going to use megasquirt to tune it.
If done correctly it should yield 10 - 15hp... (ya I know box is so slow)

anyone got any insight or maybe share your plans with me if you also wanted to do this =)

Re: Vvt-i (itb's)

They will still have to use common air inlet because all the intake air has to be metered by the MAF sensor. So a big air filter housing will need to be fabbed if you are to use stock fuel injection.

Re: Vvt-i (itb's)

well I was debating of just a plenum or just straight cut manifold with tbs at the end and just megasquirt it.

You won't make power any power with ITBs on a 1st gen xB, I wouldn't be surprised if you actually lost power.

Re: Vvt-i (itb's)

I think that's true. There will probably be torque loss at low and midrange. ITBs are usually done on racing cars that stay at 5K+ most of the time.

Re: Vvt-i (itb's)

Im not doing it to " race " my scion xb. I already have other cars for that. I just wanted to fab something up since Im bored and thought it might sound better.

3k for a itb kit is alot....
But I think your right about losing power since its already low enough but alot of the corolla guys run itbs on their 20vs etc.
