To me, the exhaust sound nicely integrates with the minor engine mods I've made (pulley and home brew CAI.) It's not loud at all, but I consider it appropriate for a "sporty" vehicle ! Definitely NOT the same as stock!

Re: tsudo dual fireball exhaust

The Gen 2 xB does not produce any additional power from an axle back exhaust system. Its all for looks and sound.

The exhaust has two cats, a mufller and sound resonator.

The mid section is the primary block for better exhaust flow.

Import Tuner dyno'd the gen 2 with strup header (removes first header) and trd axle back exhaust and only say a gain of 5 hp.

That's because the mid section is the best and plug to exhaust flow.

To make a difference you have to replace the mid section (muffler & 2nd cat) wtih a high flow cat. & add the strup header to get rid of the first cat.

Otherwise you'll make sound and no extra power.

^^ Most people are just looking for sound. But then there are people that sound = faster.

I just installed the Tsudo Dual, and part of my motivation was indeed the hope for some slight performance boost -- after all, the Tsudo SURELY flows better than the oem! In any case, although performance improvement would be nice, it wasn't something I was counting on !

Re: tsudo dual fireball exhaust

I just installed my Tsudo today. I like how it looks, but its to quit for me. Also I had to add 8 washers on the drivers side and 3 washers on the passenger side to make the gap the same. The gap is only 1/4 inch. Its should be 1/2 according to speed element.

That's not what speed-element told me via email (which I reported on ScionLife where you also posted), he said he used 1/4", and 1/2" should definitely be safe. So he seemed to think 1/4" was probably OK as a minimum. I decided to go with 1/2" for max safety !

================================================== ==============

By the way, I accept the Tsudo Dual probably has minimal if any effect on horsepower, but I'm wondering if it helps the torque any? I made a standing start left turn at a light controlled intersection today than I could swear was quicker than ever before, it seemed to jump (I'd been forced to wait for cross traffic during a quick green light -- didn't want to lose it .) The rest of the exhaust is stock, but it really did seem to come on stronger than before (torque, not horsepower!)

I just dont understand why they didnt weld the hangers up a little higher so that you do not have to use washers.

Re: tsudo dual fireball exhaust

Torque is a function of horsepower. I bet its just your butt dyno not being calibrated.

Re: tsudo dual fireball exhaust

The factors that produce torque are not identical to the factors that produce horsepower. An obvious example is stroke. Long stroke engines naturally have torque at low rpm. Short stroke engines require rpm and gearing to produce torque. An example is those old four banger VW Beetle engines -- not much horsepower, but plenty of torque.

As for my "butt dyno", can't say !

Re: tsudo dual fireball exhaust

Sorry guys, less than 1 hp and less than 1 torque.

Import tuner (2nr) dynoed the 08 xB with trd axle back exhaust and there was no noticable gain but nice sound.

The reality is simple,

If you look at the exhaust system 2 cats and a muffler, that is what is restricting the system.

besides even the pipe size gives you the answer, starts at larger diameter on the s pipe into the mid muffler and cat and then comes out smaller. Clear indicator that most of the restriction come of the mid section.

One side note, the strup header will give an added 5hp for $400.

Plus keep in mind freeing up a restricted exhaust system usually does not help torque as much as hp. Something to do with back pressure allowing the engine to create more torque. In the end though the added hp makes up the difference.

I get my header, high flow cat and tsudo dual exhaust put in on Friday. I'll report back what happens.

Re: tsudo dual fireball exhaust

Don't know to what degree what you say is true, but my impression is my CAI intake and pulley mods complement the exhaust mod and gained some performance ground. I guess there's no way to be sure without someone taking some honest dyno measurements !

Re: tsudo dual fireball exhaust

Depending on what you do for a "scuba" replacement, it sounds like you're dropping back hard on your back pressure. Is that such a good idea with a n/a engine (or are you targeting a turbo or supercharger?) In any case, good luck !

Re: tsudo dual fireball exhaust

I am willing to bet that the dual exhaust would make you loose a hp or two instead of going with a single.
The reason you think your car is faster is because its making more noise and you just paid 350 so your mind is trying to tell you it was a worth while investment.

Re: tsudo dual fireball exhaust

I was refering to torque, not HP, but since you believe so strongly in a single exhaust, why are you bothering with this thread???
