Strup/Tanabe exhaust

Hey so im looking into buying a new axle-back exhaust system for my 2009 BSP xB. Im debating on either the strup exhaust, or the tanabe medalion concept g. Does anyone have either of these exhausts and can share photo's/ maybe a video clip of you driving with it. I want my car to make some noise but i dont want it to be obnoxiously loud. Thanks.

Re: Strup/Tanabe exhaust

I dont think by just changing the muffler you are going to make it any louder.

Re: Strup/Tanabe exhaust

go on you tube and you can hear soundclips of both exhaust....then choose, and yes it will be louder than stock.

Re: Strup/Tanabe exhaust

More agressive engine noises -

The 'exhaust only' will give you some noise change. Add an aftermarket air intake and it will be louder. Add a sport header and you will be at the loudest level depending on brand (some are just quieter than others).

So for comparison, you will need a sound clip from someone that only has the exhaust, in order for you to get a more accurate idea of sound comparison.

Re: Strup/Tanabe exhaust

I am sorry I have to say that changing the mufler or cat back system is a complete waste of time if you want a
2nd gen to sound louder or better. IMO the scuba tank needs to removed and replaced by a resonator. I changed mine and it only for looks. All show and no go...

Re: Strup/Tanabe exhaust

haha...this is awesome I was just got to start a new thread asking the exact same thing and what do you know...here is one already!

IMO currently the stock exhaust has no sound what so ever.... I have heard a strup and it is nice but I would like to hear personal opinions on the Tanabe Concept G as for some reason I feel that is the exhaust for me

I agree with awinter as adding a CAI does increase sound when accelerating.

Re: Strup/Tanabe exhaust

I have no muffler at all and my intake is louder than my exhaust. The 'scuba' has to be removed if you want loud but then it will most likely get raspy.

Re: Strup/Tanabe exhaust

I think it would be because its the exposed air filter that makes all the noise. I dont like sri because of the heat from the motor would kill any gains that the filter would privide. But they do look cool...

Re: Strup/Tanabe exhaust

I had Tanabe on my G37, I'm looking to get the Medalion again for the xB, since they are under 93 db without a silencer tip. Hopefully it will be similar for the xB and not be obnoxiously loud.

Re: Strup/Tanabe exhaust

If you get an axle back be sure to get rid of the scuba for a pipe.
