| Re: Need More MPG - Do you think something is wrong??? I've only got one tank through my '09. They filled it up right next to dealership when i took ownership. That night after flipping through the manual, I saw it said 14 gal. I had it on the estimated distance left when I went to fill it up.(it registered 8 miles left) Filled up the tank with 11.868 gals. It was right at 330 miles on trip odometer(reset it before i left dealership). So I was right at 27.8 MPG. More info: still in break-in period, so i haven't been romping on it and tried to keep it under or about 65 mph |

| Re: Need More MPG - Do you think something is wrong??? i got an 08 auto with steelies, and after 26k on the odo i get between 28-31 mpg depending on how aggressive i drive, thats hand calculated, my computer is always over or under by a few....i have 20s in the garage but i dont use them all the time and i never bothered to calculate mpgs with them on, but it didnt seem too much worse (2 or 3 maybe) ...maybe this is helpful |

| Re: Need More MPG - Do you think something is wrong??? I have an 09 auto with steelies, I have 3K miles on it, I get close to 350 miles and normally put less then 12 gallons in everytime. I check my MPG by hand everytime, and just did a 2 and 3 week average in 2 weeks i had 706.4 with a total of 23.87 gallons 1/2 city 1/2 highway. about 29.6 the computer said 30.8. My 3 week was 1085.2 and 35.46 which is 30.6, the comupter said 31.4 this one I would say is closer to 40% city 60% highway, and i did remove my sub box for daily driving.
I use cruise control often and even in the city on the highway I go the speed limit and in the city I go the speed limit or 5 over depending on traffic.
mods: weapon-R intake and tanabe df210's, when i get my oil changed i'll switch to the 0-20 oil not the 5-20 that comes in these. I also use a fuel injector cleaner every 1000 miles (3 tanks) luckily my brother works for an auto parts store so i get them for about $2 +tax. |

| Re: Need More MPG - Do you think something is wrong??? So I have this idea that the computers estimated MPG is only based on what the fuel injectors are doing, and can't calculate and change for rolling resistance.
Lets say that the stock steelies weight 40 pound and you just put on 18's with rubber and they weigh 45 pounds your engine now has to work 12.5% harder to move them the same speed. say you move from a 7inch wide tire to an 8inch wide tire your contact patch is larger and creates more resistance. |

| Re: Need More MPG - Do you think something is wrong??? If you have a drop or new wheels put on, make sure you have it aligned. With alignment out of wack, you will have extra rolling resistance and lower MPG...

| Re: Need More MPG - Do you think something is wrong??? Anyone out there doing ECU mods to get the fuel economy higher at highway speeds? I have a modded 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR that was flashed by Dynoflash. Any reliable shops flashing the ECU for the 2009 XB? I want this as a daily driver commuter car and I need better fuel efficiency. Any help would be appreciated. |
