Re: Got a Turbo for my 08 XB

Well im gonna start off running 6psi. That wont do any damage to the motor. But when i make the next step to about 10psi. Then im gonna get RC 440cc injectors and aem managment.its gonna be a while befor i get all the parts to put the kit together. I didnt want to go with a ebay AKA(chinese)turbo. Ithink im better off with a garrett. if you know anybody that would have any turbo parts layin around let me know? thanx

Re: Got a Turbo for my 08 XB

dont wait on the injectors even at 6psi... Not sure if there are ebay manifolds available for this motor yet so you will prob. have to have a custom mani fabbed $$$.

Be sure to find SOME sort of fuel management. There are turbo/sc scions all over the place there is software for it available. Stay away from piggybacks.

Re: Got a Turbo for my 08 XB

What software is this you speak of? As far as I know piggy backs and stand alones are all that is out, of which none offer a anything pnp for the xb2. I am currently waiting on the rest of my turbo kit from turbotoyotas. I will be using the Aem Fic for fuel, 550cc Injectors and 2 step colder plugs. I'm planning on tuning for10-12 psi on stock internals maybe with water/meth but not likely.

Non is necessary, unless you are going for big numbers then a pump and return system would be great. Check out Sl forums my setup is there along with a couple other boosted XB2s

Re: Got a Turbo for my 08 XB

hey man, 6 psi is a lot for no engine management. I'm new here on clubxb, but got a whole thread on scionlife.

Also, 550cc injectors is more what you would want to go with if you're gonna go with 10 lbs.

These boxes are freakin awesome with boost. I'm running 8 lbs of boost, and I've had great success so far. Any questions you have don't hesitate to ask.

Homerhitta, still reading your SL thread. Good stuff.

I'm thinking of doing this with an auto. Some R&D is necessary first but I think it can be done.

If you don't have a clutch yet, Clutch Master or Spec would be good choices ( Ask Steve )

I don't think you need a new fuel pump for such a small turbo and 440cc injectors. The ZPI stage 0 TC kit used a T3 @6psi w/o fuel, EM or IC and T3 Treadstone kit only uses larger injectors and a MAF venturi tube for A/F @7psi. IMO your initial plan sounds fine but you should at least get a wideband gauge to watch your A/F. Colder plugs are probably a good idea too.

I just bought the CXR kit with a T3/T4 and I plan to run 5-6psi on 440cc injectors w/o EM. I got AEM UEGO and boost gauges plus a OBD to USB adapter and a netbook so I can monitor and log the ECU and A/F. If the ECU can't cope with the 20% larger injectors and low boost, I'll add the AEM FIC earlier than planned. I'd like to wait on the EM until a PnP cable is available but splicing it in shouldn't be too hard. As for the Chinese turbo, I'm gonna try it but won't be surprised if I have to rebuild it or replace it in the short term. Good luck with your build.

BTW, there are cast manifolds on ebay now for ~$125. That's my backup plan if the CXR mani sucks. I'd like to avoid having a custom DP fabbed though.
