| CX Racing turbo kit I have been looking for a quick, easy, and inexpensive way too beef up my box. i found these guyz offering there turbo kit for $1599.00. so i like the price all ready, plus they claim with a bone stock XB they produced 200WHP with 5psi. also they say with upgraded ECU, and Injectors it can produce upwards to 250-300whp. so now they got me hooked. but i need to make sure it is completely compatible with an auto. tranny, and that the kit is very driver friendly because my box is my DD and i put a minimum of 75 miles a day on it. (sometimes 300+). plus if there is anyone already running this kit i would love some feedback. i have emailed there support team and will keep any other people, up-to-date if they are interested. |

| Re: CX Racing turbo kit sounds like pure bs to me. there's no way you can make 200whp on 5psi.
Go with something more proven and have better background info. |

| Re: CX Racing turbo kit Go with turbotoyotas or dezod's turbo kits. More expensive but better quality.
This kit only makes 170 or 180 when I seen it on youtube. |

| Re: CX Racing turbo kit Do not go with Turbo Toyotas if you want the install to go smoothly. He usually forgets to ship parts.
If you are going to daily drive it and only want to add occasional power go with a supercharger since it is not always on so to speak. |

| Re: CX Racing turbo kit as much as i like superchargers(my last car stage II Cobalt SS/SC) the price for the TRD supercharger is outrageous and its only under warranty if toyota installs it i cannot see myself paying 5k+ for a TRD supercharger when what i have heard is the performance really isnt up to par with other aftermarket forced induction. i emailed cx racing yesterday and am still waiting for a response. they do seem too good too be true because of the price and performance. but they do use a T3/T4 turbo. and i figure they are a new company so they cant charge the same as well known companies like HKS, and Greddy. they still need to build their rep. i am hoping that they respond sooner then later and hopefully within the year i am boosted. but i havent seen any other brand of superchargers for the xb2. |

| Re: CX Racing turbo kit Okay well the trd supercharger is on all the time I dont know where you got the idea it wasn't. I think you might have it backwards. A turbo wouldn't "be on" until you hit a certain rpm and it spools. The supercharer builds more and more boost as your rpm's climb. So it technically is always working, just not running much boost. Also the trd charger has been problem riddled since the day it came out and toyota has not addressed the issues it has. Ask any of the tc guys running them and most are on thier 2nd or 3rd unit. The warrety is also kinda sketchy from what I've read in regaurds to the charger. Get a turbo kit and run mild boost if you want to be reliable. Maybe get the cx kit and swap out the turbo and bov for a name brand one? Although people running thier its on ka-t 240sx's seem to have no problems with thier kits. If I were to buy one I'd try the turbo and just swap the bov, sounded like it sputtered bad on the dyno when they lift of the gas. I'd say go turbotoyotas but I dont think they offer the kit at the moment might just be a special order basis currently. They have aot f issues just sending the right parts for kits in production, I could only imagine the crap it takes to get a special ordered kit. |

| Re: CX Racing turbo kit The Trd Supers run 6psi for 200 whp.
Now given that we all know supers are parasitic, I can imagine a 5psi turbo would produce the 200 whp.
Given that, I know that TRD supers (from experience I had one) reflash the cpu to retard the timing and swap the injectors.
My info. says any forced air induction will require a proper tuning to ensure proper long term performance. |

| Re: CX Racing turbo kit Regarding the CXR turbo kit, I bought the kit and ran it for 2 months before the thin 16ga manifold cracked from the weight of the turbo.
The good:
Fitment
Intercooler
BOV
Adjustable internal wastegate
Intake and charge pipes (decent gauge, beaded ends)
Downpipe
T-bolt clamps
The bad:
Turbo manifold will crack ( I know of 4 so far)
Constant P0101 CEL (MAF out of range)
No instructions
No warranty
The medicore:
Chinese turbo
oil feed and return lines
Gaskets
Tech support
Tune with oem ECU isn't great
When I installed the kit I added 440cc injectors, AEM UEGO and boost gauges, 1 step colder plugs gapped at .032" (TRD SC plugs) and a 170F Stant thermostat. AFRs in boost were ~11:1.
I'm currently upgrading my CXR kit with a Precision T3/T04E, Treadstone mani, Tial 38mm WG, custom downpipe, AEM FIC, Boomslang PnP harness. What started out as a $2000 turbo kit experiment is now close to $4500 and may reach $5000.
IMO the cheapest way to make this kit work would be to have a shop make a new manifold out of schedule 40 pipe. The CXR flanges and downpipe could be reused. IMO you could make a decent kit out of this with a new manifold, gauges and engine management for about $3000 but as-is, it's junk because of the manifold. |
