Borla Dual Exhaust

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone seen/heard about borla's dual exhaust system for the 2008 xb.

Also, I know that there is a thread about a single outlet from borla...but are there any sound clips or videos about it?

Re: Borla Dual Exhaust

just one question....upon further inspection of the kit...where is the borla muffler? it looks like it's just a straight through pipe that splits into two, with tips. Is my suspicions correct?

Re: Borla Dual Exhaust

Here is what a sales guy at Borla told me
"Thank you for contacting BORLA PERFORMANCE. You will not need to purchase a muffler so you can use our system. This system will be an easy bolt on installation.Your old system will just unbolt and the new one will bolt right on to the factory parts."

Um Ok Borla but I am about 99.999% sure that isn't legal in my state. LOL Are they claiming CARB legality on this system?

Someone needs to get this thing...I want one but not if I am going to wind up sounding like a Civic with one of those crappy exahusts on it.

Looking at the first gen xB version there is a resonator and then a muffler on each pipe...how can they go from that to nothing?

Well the resonator in the new Xb has the Cat Converter in it. But Damn that expensive. You are better off using a Magnaflow muffler and having a shop build you a system. Damn that system from Borla looks cheaply made.

Re: Borla Dual Exhaust

I am open to all opinions but forgive me if I don't take the word of a sponsored member on the opinion of a competing product at face value. I will definitely wait for reviews, and other manufactures to step it up before I make a decision. Also, 'custom' work at a shop in Cali is generally expensive and I doubt you could come in under 500$ for the muffler and a dual exhaust setup that you would be happy with. Maybe I am wrong.

Seems like alot of money to spend for nothing. Just piping with no muffler. Im not a Sponsored whatever you call it. Im speaking from experience. But cool if you dont want to take other advise. No Worries

Re: Borla Dual Exhaust

I have said that it was expensive from the beginning. Also forgive me for believing that you are/were sponsored by Magnaflow, but sponsorship or not you are obviously biased. Take care.

I don't get it....why do you think he might be biased?

His comments seem fairly fair and balanced to me.

Thank You I just call it as I see it. Why not buy a quality product that offers a lifetime warranty. 409 Stainless Steel is what comes in the system. The muffler is 426 and the Tip is 304.

I came away with a custom dual exhaust cat back system for my 1st gen for way under $500 dollars. I replaced everything to a magnaflow muffler, shop brand tips, 18" resonator, and increased the pipe size to 2-1/4". Love the way it sounds, and is probably my favorite mod ont he car. I my opinion that's the only way to go. Pick out whatever muffler, tips, resonator, pipe size you want, and have them go to town with it. You then don't have to pay extra for the name of a system, and wait for someone to release an entire system. It's the only way I'll go with any car I own.
