| bolt welded on stock exhaust pipe??? So I picked up a Tanabe Concept G exhaust for my 2nd gen and while I was under the car trying to get the !@# damn bolt off and it looked like it was welded on. Believe me I did try turning it and I couldnt get it to move for the life of me. It was the first time I have even been under a car so I was a wee bit on the, dont let this drop me, mood. I did have jack stands but still....nerves.
So does this look like I am not going to just get this off with brute force? Or it is that I need to really just "put my back into it". |

| Re: bolt welded on stock exhaust pipe??? when I got my exhaust there was no way in hell it was coming off with a hand tool. The shop I took it to had to cut the bolt off and put a new one on. |

| Re: bolt welded on stock exhaust pipe??? On the bottom pic, are you trying to loosen the top (with spot welds) or the bottom? Looks like the nut was spot welded on so you would have to loosen the bolt head which is on the bottom. |

| Re: bolt welded on stock exhaust pipe??? Get some PB Blaster from any auto parts store. Spray it on good and let it set for 20-30 minutes. It should come off real easy at that point. If necessary, use a breaker bar or use the top of your floor jack handle (slide over your ratchet handle) for more leverage. |

| Re: bolt welded on stock exhaust pipe??? Before you go to air tools you could get a Harbor freight breaker bar and a hammer. That would break it loose. |

Good luck, but don't count on it. |
