Question Anyone Using A Chip-Whats Your Thoughts

What is a good performance enhancing chip? Who has one and where did you get it? Or if you got one and dont like it..what should I stay away from?

I think I read that UNIChip has begun making piggy back modules for the 2nd Gen xB.

Check out my avatar pic....I made my Xb a functional ram air. I molded duct work from carbon fiber to duct directly in to the original air cleaner. If you put your hand in front of the opening in the bumper you can feel it suckin!!!

Unichip is already proven in the tC for gains, then again, it's more of a piggyback emanage unit with updated map than a simple chip.

Hey noob, I've read most of your posts. In them it appears that you go out of your way to be an asshat. Please keep your second grade comments to yourself and respect the forum rules. Posts should be productive and informative or at the very least, relevant.

Well okay enough static.....

I wonder if the factory upgrade mapping on the supercharger would work for naturally aspired cars?!

Re: Anyone Using A Chip-Whats Your Thoughts

I'm thinking since mapping for FI usually means retarding the spark timing to fight knock and slight mixture enrichment under load, that would not add to NA performance.

Re: Anyone Using A Chip-Whats Your Thoughts

General rule is avoiding wasting your money on chips -- even if you see some performance gain, it's probably due to enriching your mixture, whereupon you'll see your average gas mileage drop. However, if someone knows of an aftermarket upgrade that genuinely boosts performance while not damaging, and maybe even improving, gas mileage -- I'm interestd in hearing about it !

A piggy back and some dyno time will show a better gain than a preprogrammed chip or an +50hp ebay chip. You have to tune for your car and the gas you plan on using.
