| Air Filter TRD vs. K&N I realize that the air filter might not be the most restrictive element in the 08 xb air flow system but every little bit helps right? So until I can afford (and by afford I mean convince my wife) a CAI, which air filter is better the K&N or the TRD? As always any input is appreciated. Thx |

| Re: Air Filter TRD vs. K&N I'm not 100% positive but I'm pretty certain that the TRD filter is made by K&N. If not, it's still the same oiled cotton gauze filter media and they should flow very similarly. I'd buy whichever is cheaper and remove that stupid 2' long silencer hose from the airbox intake for better air-flow and sound.
FWIW, I've used K&N, Accel Cool Blue and generic oiled cotton gauze filters in the past and couldn't notice any difference in appearance or performance. |

| Re: Air Filter TRD vs. K&N Really there is almost no advantage over a clean stock air filter. Big waste of money especially if you are going to get a cool air intake at some point later in time.
Just replace the paper filter regularly...like every 10k miles. |

| Re: Air Filter TRD vs. K&N I totally understand the wife thing, tryin to convince her on that with the XB and the Tundra, lol
I just put a AFE drop-in in my 5.7 Tundra and removed the restrictive cotton mesh piece off the upper portion of the box lid. MAde a big difference.
The stock air filter element is very restrictive, so anything like TRD or K&N makes things better. |

| Re: Air Filter TRD vs. K&N 2 things you can do here. buy a hold over cotton gauze filter and remove the carbon liner in the top of the air box... or save for a bit and buy a CAI. if you save, it will be cheaper in the long run. you'll only have to buy one thing. and i also know what you mean about the wifey thing. this is probably going to make a few people mad... so take it lightly... just a funny saying... "its better to as forgiveness than to ask permission" LOL |

| Re: Air Filter TRD vs. K&N Whitebread, love the quote, but she does let me spend and play on the drift car, so I will respect her wishes on the daily, but i sneek things in here and there, lol
that is what i did with the Tundra, and noticed better throtle response and more grunt, gonna wait to break in the XB and do the same.
Whitenoise I would hold off on the CAI untill you see some numbers. AEM has always been good, but there new dryflow filters are a bit more restrictive than there old ones. |

So I am getting the teal...and now I have to find wheels that aren't the ones you got (which as you know were also my 1st choice) and now the intake?
