| Re: 08' Xb??? I tried to take it easy, but I did have to drive on the freeway right away to get to work. I didn't drive it hard, and I stayed under 75. After the first thousand miles (first week) I drove it like I would another car (80! I lives in California, after all) and haven't had any problems. I'm at 9000 miles now. |

| Re: 08' Xb??? vary your rpm's ,do not drive at the same speed, this will seat the piston rings properly,& give you long engine life. |

I, however, follow the traditional break-in procedure of using all gears, varying RPMs and varying speeds. |

| Agreed
I lit the tires up driving off the lot. Clutch isn't brand new anymore. I still have no problem when it comes to making the tire squeal a bit. For the first few weeks I chirped third. Hell, I’ve even taken it to the drags a couple times. The only down side is that I’ve only had it for about 5.5 months and have already racked up 14,000+. It’s a Toyota though so no worries right? |

| Re: 08' xB break-in period??? You should break it in the same way you plan on driving it. This will help the piston rings break in... |

| Re: 08' xB break-in period??? Ha! Break-In Period? I'll tell you a Break-In Period story... My Break-In Period was being pulled off by a cop about 20 minutes AFTER I got my xB. In 10 years I've been driving I had been pulled over only once! So... I asked the cop why I was being pulled over and he said: "Son, I clocked you at 68mph in a 45mph Zone." I was like ... "Sorry officer! I just got this vehicle from the dealer and I am not accustomed to it yet.. I guess is a Break-In period kinda thing...Honestly; I don't even know yet where's the speedometer... (Yeah Right! ) He asked for my papers... and once he saw that the xB had 48 miles and the registration was signed off the same day... He laughed at me, gave me back my things, said "Take it easy Son"... and walked away... .
So basically... in short... Who reads the manual BEFORE jumping in the car and driving it anyways? We are all way too excited for that!!! And... It's not like the dealer/salesman give you a full brief orientation about the "Break-In Period"...
All I wanted to see was people "Head-Turning" as I drove by...
BTW, I am a couple of miles short for the 1,300 miles mark now... So I hope I did something right...

| Re: 08' xB break-in period??? Dealer gave me a 2008 owners manual for my 2009. Wonder if there are any changes. Basically told me to take it easy first 1000 miles and not to use the cruise control until after. |
