I like it.. pinstripping helps define the shape and curves of the body.
I slapped some on my CSM xB also.

Thanks guys.

@Daarken - You have pics of the pinstripes on your CSM? Looked at the CSM thread and didn't see any XD

@rosconey - Not digging the colour; but I like the look of those 'caps. I can definitely see them turning heads!

Re: Hypnotic Teal Mica - Wow!!

I've been here a few weeks now and finally took the time to snap some pictures. Here's my completely stock hypnotic teal mica xB. Yeah, I know I need some wheels... Bad.

While shinin' her up for her online debut, I found my first big paint ding today.

With such an upright front end, how do you keep things cherry? My chip is right above the grille, on the front-facing part of the hood. I haven't seen a bra for the xB .. and I'm not sure I'd want one anyway. Are you guys just living with front end imperfections or is there something I'm missing?

Re: Hypnotic Teal Mica - Wow!!

oops deleted my photos

i think front end dings are to be expected-i might be interested in a bug deflector if they ever make one-my 06 corolla had one and the front end of the hood was like new when i traded it in because of it-
bugs are just coming out now and my front end is covered-

Isn't this color being dropped from the 09 lineup?

Fine with me if they drop the color, more rare! Front end chips are worse on this car than any I have owned and I have owned some flat square cars, Bronco II for instance. I have just been touching them up and buffing them out best I can. I want to get a cf hood eventually anyways.

I already have three chips one on the hood and then two above the driverside windshield. I bought the paint from my dealership but I have to admit it is not going to look filled in and flush. I don't own any automotive tools or have any know how. Do you have any advice???

It wont look perfect no matter what. After I wash the car and before the wax I I tape around the chip a good deal and then fill it once or twice with the touch up color. Then I use a small amount of 3m polishing compound on it with the tape still there, then wax the whole car. Not perfect for sure but helps a bit. I have done this for 2 large chips and a couple smaller ones. I'm afraid our hoods will look like swiss cheese after 50k : /

I live in Tucson and have a HTM xB S well. I never want to impose my style upon others but you might want to consider taking the black tape off the A Pillars, it make it look tons better. Are you going to the Scion United photo shoot in Boulder City next month?

Hypnotic Teal Mica is being dropped from the lineup in 2009 and is being repalced with Hypnotic Nautical Blue. This is all fine by me, makes it more rare.

I found yet another chip yesterday when I was washing my xB. Seriously what is the deal? Are the other paints schemes this bad? Is there anything we can do to make Toyota fix it. I know they would just claim road conditions, particularly in Arizona but the hood seems to be chipping nearly every week. I have touch up paint but this is getting out of hand.

In my opinion the only thing to do would be to redesign the car so that it is more aerodynamic. The problem (for me at least) is the flat front. You will find the same problem with the first gens. As with all cars the dark color choices suffer the most as you have noticed. Perhaps there is a higher quality paint that they could be using but I doubt that a sub 20k car would get that kind of treatment. I think that I will be investing in a new hood in a few years so that will take care of the majority of the chips hehe. Take Care

HTM is NOT being dropped!

Nautical Blue Metallic is - found this on the Autoblog site, from the Scion press release:

Scion Announces 2009 Prices for xB and tC

TORRANCE, Calif., April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Scion announced manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRP) today for the 2009 model year xB urban utility vehicle and tC sports coupe. The xB will arrive at dealerships later this month while the tC will arrive in May.

After a major model change in 2008, the xB carries over with only a change in exterior color. Stingray Metallic replaces Nautical Blue Metallic. The base MSRP for the iconic xB is $15,750 when equipped with a five-speed manual transmission and $16,700 for the four-speed automatic with sequential shifting. Prices for both configurations represent an increase of $100 or 0.6 percent.

***

Um, so what color is "stingray?"
