| Spark Plugs Ok hitting the 30,000 mark and time o change the plugs...... what should I use???? Everything right now is stock.... and the only thins that will change will be a short ram and exhaust so I don't think that that will have bearing on the plugs but I could be wrong... soooo any input would be grreatful!!! |

| Re: Spark Plugs Yep, Toyota products like Denso (ND) and NGK plugs. Not really anything else. While working in our parts department I saw several dozen Toyota cars that ran like crap/got terrible mileage/flipped on CELs/whatever simply because they were running a different brand of plug.
I went with the Denso platinum myself. Factory recommended! My wife's will get the same if she ever gets to 30K...
Good luck!

| Re: Spark Plugs we just installed some NGK Iridium IX plugs gaped at 0.44. We started it up & only smooth the idle became. We went on a test run & it was a nice difference in power & shifts are smoother. |

| Re: Spark Plugs no reason to be sorry about asking

Edit: After some research, i guess the 32 can be changed to 44 but now my question is, why 0.44? Is this the tested and popular choice for the xBs?

Buying these more expensive plugs equates to the cost of about 10 gallons of gas (325 miles). If they add 1-2 mpg, it would take many fill ups (24) before any return on your investment is realized. (In my case it would take about 8 months.) Are they really that good? |

Denso (K16RU)= 0.7 mm / 0.028 inches
NKG (BKR5EYA)= 0.8 mm / 0.031 inches
| So what is it?
Also, do you guys recommend any particular torque wrenches out there? Hopefully under $50?
They linked this but wanted to get a 2nd opinion from my box brothers 3/8" Dr. Torque Wrench - 2455mit |

When I posted, I figured someone would see the the math didn't add! Thanks! |

| Re: Spark Plugs Just a noon question, why are you gapping the plug at .044 when toyota recommends a gap of no more than .032--wouldnt that create less efficiency? |

| Re: Spark Plugs All I know is that I'm running a short ram intake and magnaflow exhaust with the stock plugs. I would remove your current plugs and give them a good look! How are they performing? nice amber color or sooty deposits?
Are they running to hot? Electrode burning away? It would be my guess that since we really can't make that much extra power with these engines that the stock replacements would be fine. (NGK/Denso any metal) |
