Fog Light Install Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ordered the foglights and today i went to put them in. I plugged them up but now what? Are they supposed to come on with the lights? I turned on the lights and no luck.

I thought they were plug and play. I got them used so i used tried new bulbs, just in case, but that didn't work either.

Is there something other than plugging them into the harness?

Is there supposed to be a dash switch i didn't get?

Am I just an idiot...wait, i already know the answer to this one....

Please help! I dont want to have to drive to the dealership in rush hour traffic to see if they have switch if thats what i need.

I'm assuming its a 1st Gen.

Yes, you need a switch to turn them on and a relay. If you bought the kit from the dealership, they should have installed both of these for you. If you bought them aftermarket, there are plenty of DIY's out here for you to read up on.

Re: Fog Light Install Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did u buy OEM ones?

You need a switch, relay, wires, fog lights, bulbs, fog light bulb harness.

A OEM set SHOULD have everything you need, unless you have just bought the housings.

The bulbs are headlight bulbs, 9006 I think. Maybe 9007.

Re: Fog Light Install Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought them used. I got the lights and bulb. My xB is wired for fogs i have plug ins in the holes and what i think is a plugin behind the dash. I guess i either need to go to a dealership and buy the button if thats it..Could it be that simple? Can i buy a factory button and plug into the plug and be done?

or do I splice up some wires like this diy shows: DIY: xB Foglight Modification

Although i dont know where the Green wire comes from. Its not mentioned in the write up, its just on the diagram.

The four wires for the relay are noted, but wheres the green wire at the top coming from?

Re: Fog Light Install Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can find better source for the switch (try OEM Style Rocker Switch for example) than the dealer. Same goes for relay- i've seen them for about $6. Dont forget to install 15Amp fuse in the underdash fuse box. The connector for the fog light switch behind the center console has 2 wires: Green/Orange and Black/White.
Search through Gen1 Electrical section- this has been covered many times.

Won't work without the Relay as well as the switch. Then once they are all installed they will only come one when your headlights are on.

Re: Fog Light Install Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dealership will charge approx $85-90 dollars for relay and $45 for the switch.
