Opinions needed on dash!

I really need to do somethin about my dash but i dont know what. I've mentioned before...long ago that a drunk threw a small engine through my window badly messing up my dash...so i sanded it smooth and painted it. but i am tired of wiping my dash off every 5 min because of dust. So my question is what would be the best way to redo the dash, flock, fabric, leather? what are some reasonable options? any Input would be appreciatted

Also, i saw how the speedo dome was done and i am very unfamiliar with the world of sewing things to plastic...but it be possible to use that concept on all the angles on the dash and sew something like leather? like with the seams being at the 90 degree angles we all love to clean

Re: Opinions needed on dash!

I imagine covering dash in suede or leather is lots of work, but when done proper it looks awesome. Dooby's dash pic:

Re: Opinions needed on dash!

Here are a couple pics of my dash, I used suede no sticthing, Most peps paint the speedo housing to color match either the outside or interior and also gives a break in the flow kinda eye catching I guess. I think wiping down the dash every 5 min isn't bad as with my case with the suede you have to be careful because the dust just gets into the pores, I have to keep up on the game.

Find yourself an upholstery shop unless you want to do all the mods yourself.

Thanks, the only thing I would do diffrent is to go with the bluish or purplish color choice I wanted also. Like I mentioned abobe the grey keeps you on top of your game.

G/L whatever you decide to do.

What you have now - smoothed and painted seems like the best option for easy dust removal. Any other dash covering option is not going to reduce the amount of dust needing to be removed. Futhermore, other coverings such as flocking and suede will make it more difficult to remove the dust.

My interior tends to be overly dusty at times and it can be very frustrating for keeping painted (or stock) peices dust free. Maybe your (our) focus should be more geared towards reducing the amount of interior dust than seeking an alternative dash covering.

I think leather is the best answer if you are going to make an effort covering it with something. Easy to clean and adds to the feel of the interior. Lots of work but will look less like a low budget car (even though i love the stock xB dash )

Re: Opinions needed on dash!

Haha i guess i didnt think about it like that hotwheels, thanks. I liked the stock one but it was beyond repair... it had deep scratches after the break-in i may just repaint it. It looks good in pics but when im in the car my crappy painting skills at the time annoy me lol.

I think alot of the dust problem is that the top of my dash is glossy black, which shows every particle of dust there is clearly
