| Flock the Dash? I was wondering if anyone has used flocking on their dash, or any other interior parts. For those not familiar with flocking it's basically tiny little fibers sprayed over an adhesive to make a simulated fabric texture. I have used this stuff in model cars for interiors, but the stuff is used in tons of other applications. I found a thread on a Subaru forum and the guys work looks awesome!

If anyone has done this in any car then post up! I would love to apply this to the xB dash and pillars. Anti-Glare Dash Flocking (Spray on Seude Finish) - RS25.com: Subaru Impreza GC8 & RS Forum & Community

| That looks pretty sick I have to wonder if it's easy to keep clean though.
And do you think you'll forever have little fuzzies appearing everywhere? |

| Re: Flock the Dash? This seems to be big with the race crowd for the anti-glare benefit, but it looks great as well when done right. There is basically two methods for flocking: electrostatic charging the dash, or just spraying the fibers on using a special air gun. The more and more I research this the more I like the idea. There are several shops in the U.S. that offer flocking services, but I have not found anything in the SE. The professional flockers all seem to be in the UK or places where rally is big. Also, there are lots of color options. |

May be you could get a very similar result from covering the dash with synthetic suede (alcantara) or something like that? I imagine it would be even more durable than spraying. |

Typical problems include air bubbles and just overall bad fitment, it would require alot of stitching to make it contour to the dash correctly. |

When done professionally- yes. I don't think you can get lasting results out of spray can of this stuff though. What color do you have in mind? |

| Re: Flock the Dash? I've been wanting to flock my pillars white for about the last 6 months. Since wraping the C pillar in fabric is close to impossible. Problem is I can't find large quantites of Flock to do it by hand.
Besides the spray method, model builders simply put some elmers glue on the plastic part, then sift the flock over the part, and shake off any excess when the glue is dry. It looks great and seems to hold up ok for model builders, would be easy to repair if it got scuffed off also.

| Re: Flock the Dash? In the link posted above you can see that DonJer makes a "air assisted spray gun". This is an air gun with a canister attachment for holding and distributing the flocking matterial. |
