| Re: Wally-World-Fogs-SICK! where's "north"? if you're comming into the washington area, the foggy season is starting to die down since it's starting to go from wet muggy nights to dry cold nights.
anyway, moving north means more debris on the roads. because of this, i would recommend any set of fog lights that have impact resistant lenses. i have a set of Pilot fogs. they're about 15 bucks, about 2.5 inches in diameter and have impact resistant lenses on them. not ALOT of light output, but they have some powerful beams that work great for seeing the edges of the road which is all a fog light is really meant for. |

| Re: Wally-World-Fogs-SICK! Im moving to the mountain areas of PA. Im going from Fl to Pa on Nov 20. Ima go to walmart again later and check out what they have again. When I buy them can I use the installation guide for the oem foglights?
also, on scion life someone posted pictures of how they installed. Once they popped the inserts out they started cutting whatever was behind the insert so the lights can go in. he is the only person who has said that. was cuttin needed?

| Re: Wally-World-Fogs-SICK! IllNinja, now you'll have to drill to screw the fog lights onto your bumper, then connect the ground cables to the chassis, and the other ones to the parking light's hot wire. That's what I did, and so far it's working great.
...that's if you want the fog lights to come on every time you turn on the parking lights, and or driving lights.

| Re: Wally-World-Fogs-SICK! I used the dimmer hot wire to a relay, and the relay to ground. Then wired directly from the + battery terminal, through a fuse, then through the firewall, to the in and out of the relay, to a rocker switch, back through the firewall, then to each fog, and grounded each fog. Did you catch all that?
The relay allows you to tap the parking light switch without pulling much more current through that circuit. Also, with this approach, the fogs have their own fuse. So if my fogs blow the a fuse, my parking light circuit remains untouched.
Try wiring everything up outside of the car first, then can see how the circuit works.
This is what I did in a nutshell
Except instead of the fusebox, i used the dimmer switch hotwire

| Re: Wally-World-Fogs-SICK! H3 mini HID bulbs at Retrosource.com will fit them... but i advise against it. the plastics used for those fog light houses are pretty cheap. a quality light would be using a fiberglass reflector lens like a headlight or our OEM fog lights to be resistant to the hat produced by the bulbs used in the housing. the wally fogs and or similar fog lights use a thin poly based plastic that gets REAL damn close to melting point when turned on for a while. HID bulbs produce less residual heat, but thier direct and immediate heat around them is a bit more intense and would probably break that melting point.
you can try it, but i would keep a strict eye on them. i would suggest some of the small ebay projector fog lights if you want to go HID on them, they're atleast made with sheetmetal.
EDIT: www.retrosolutions.com is what i meant to say. custom HID conversions, HID kits, LED, CCFL specialists - retrosolutions
second edit FTW

| Re: Wally-World-Fogs-SICK! Thanks gravebox, that was enough info to answer my question. I dont think im gonna risk it. It wasnt that important to me. Plus my fogs turn on with my remote start, so i can always keep on eye on them. |

So has anyone slapped HID's onto the Wal-Mart fogs? If so, post pics.. I'm still debating on whether to get some HID's for my fogs.. |

| Re: Wally-World-Fogs-SICK! I was going to, but decided against it because of the post from gravebox. Also, I think the clearance would have cut it close on a regular H3, and i didn't want to look for a smaller bulb, much less pay for it. It was during the big HID group by b4 christmas.
Now I am just trying the stop the damm fluttering!!!!
You should try it and let me know if it melts! My fogs come on when I remote start my car, so I can't keep a close eye on it all the time. Didn't want to risk it. |
