Scion xB Lighting & Electrical There's options for Scion xB Lighting and Electrical from the factory, but honestly where's the fun in that. In this Scion xB Lighting and Electrical forum you can share ideas with eachother on what works well and looks good for Scion xB lighting.

fog/headlight relay plug

ok... after way too much time...

how the f%$K do you get it off the relay box? trying to redo the fog light constant to be wired to the ignition manualy so that when i turn my highbeams on, my fogs stay on.

i have a bi-xenon hid setup so my lighting system is no longer under the heavy load with highbeams on to worry about turning the fogs off.

so, that all being said, how the hell do you get the relay harness plug to come off the side. i've tried every method i could think of and i stick can't get it off...

Re: fog/headlight relay plug

Plastic latch. Jam a small flat screwdriver in between the fuse box and relay bracket and start moving it. The bracket will slide out either towards the firewall or towards the back- i don't remember for sure but i've done it.

Re: fog/headlight relay plug

i figured that's how it was done... i about cut the backs of my hands on alot of stuff back there with the amount of force i was putting into it lol

here's another question, which pin is thhe ignition controled constant power?

every one of the positive pins i meter starts out around 20v and then slowly drops... which is making it difficult to find a ignition constant... any idea?

got the following layout:
______
[] 1
[] 2
[]4 []3
--------

1 seems to be ground
2 seems to look like a constant power
3 is the power positive going to the foglight switch
4 seems to look like another constant power

both 2 and 4 don't seem to be effected by ignition and 2, 3 and 4 all start off at 20v dc and slowly drops as if they were connected to capacitors.

EDIT:

i need the constant power from ignition that is NOT effected by highbeam operation. i don't want to have my fogs turn off while brights are on.

Re: fog/headlight relay plug

I'll just go by the wire's color at the fog relay:
Green/Red is constant Positive supplied from battery.
Red or Red/White is a Positive output to the fog lights.
Green/Orange is a Ground signal from the fog switch to activate the relay and turn the fogs on.
So if you want to have the fog lights to come on together with high beams automatically all you need to do is to connect Green/Orange to the Black/Yellow wire at the headlight/high beam switch.

Re: fog/headlight relay plug

^ tried that, didn't work. the switching wire for the fog light when going from low beam to high beam is actually the black/white ground. after hours of fooling around with the relays, i found that the foglight relay is ground switching, not power so instead of driving for a half hour to get a aftermarket relay to do it my self, i've just put it back to stock wiring.

Re: fog/headlight relay plug

How would it not work? You need a ground signal to activate fog relay. To activate high beams the headlight switch gives ground to the headlights. Connect one to the other and you got automatic fogs.

Re: fog/headlight relay plug

nope, it didn't work lol as soon as i connect it to any switching ground on any relay that had the closest result to what i was looking for, it automatically grounded the fogs all the time... in other words, regardless of what i tried, it still operates exactly the same way if i were to just give the fog light switch directly to the chassis and became completely independent with operation controled by the fog switch it's sellf. pretty much without going and getting a relay from the hardware store, i can't have them come on with signals/lowbeams/highbeams on the ignition control. it just wont happen... i spent a little over 6 hours trying every possible way i could think of without having to use an aftermarket relay and it wont work.
