Re: Cookie Diet for weight loss

I went on the Atkins diet back when it was a fad and lost 42 pounds in 2 months... THEN ended up in the hospital because I woke up one morning and didn't even have the energy to get out of bed and had a hard time breathing. I went to the ER and the doctor said I had ingested so much protein and no carbs in the 2 months that my body learned to make energy from fat and was starting to eat the fat around my organs for energy. It's NOT a safe diet at ALL!

Wink Re: Cookie Diet for weight loss

My "diet" (I really HATE that word, and I dont consider it a diet, but a lifestyle change) is going great.

Still at 185 but my gut is rapidly shrinking. Starting to see some nice definition. I dont really care about weight loss, but more so about getting cut and keeping the muscle I have:

CARDIO
-High intensity: once a week (combo of 1 quarter mile lap, 6 50 yrd sprints followed by running up and down the bleachers at least 20 times, repeat cycle at least 3 times. Only takes about 15 minutes.

-Low intensity: twice a week, 6 mile jog.

WEIGHTS
Hitting the weights about thrice weekly. My goal is a medium/heavy weight (10-15 reps) and no rests between sets to keep that heart rate up.

Speaking of heart rates, I recently added the 300 workout to my routine - its a KILLER! My biggest obstacle is the pull ups though:

25 pull-ups (sometimes)
50 deadlifts at 135 pounds
50 push-ups
50 box jumps with a 24-inch box ( I use a 20" bench)
50 "floor wipers" (a core and shoulders exercise at 135 pounds)
50 "clean and press" at 36 pounds (a weight-lifting exercise)
25 more pull-ups (again, sometimes ) -- for a total of 300 reps

A lot of people are looking for a "magic pill" way to lose weight and get in shape. The magic pill is hard work. Those among you who are politically correct and easily offended should not read this link, but it is a wonderful article that gets right to the point: http://alwyncosgrove.blogspot.com/20...loss-rant.html

Re: Cookie Diet for weight loss

It's been a while since I've been back on this forum. (Getting my MBA has kept me too busy to read/post). I scrapped the cookie diet at the end of the summer. I had good results getting weight off, I just had to keep it going once switching back to a regular eating plan. A neuroma in my foot killed the jogging, by the time it healed, school was in full swing and I plumped back up to 185 due to no exercise. I started eating right and jogging again and alcohol only 1 night/week. In the past 2 weeks I've lost >5lbs.

The cookies were do-able but boring despite new, improved flavors. They are good for getting weight off but you can't live that way (weigh)!

The cookies are available at Smart For Life diet centers. I've even seen something at Walgreens drugstore but I don't know how similar they are. The cookies I bought are basically dietary fiber.

It's good to be back

Re: Cookie Diet for weight loss

I heard people tend to gain more weight once they quit cookies because they end up eating more due to habit of eating cookies.

Re: Cookie Diet for weight loss

So, anybody else who's done this? Does it make you feel weak or tired or anything due to the lack of calories? Just curious...

I agree!!
Two other things I tell my patients who have desire to lose weight:
(1) Completely avoid buying snacks and soda altogether. Limit access to those things at home is the easiest way to prevent excess caloric intake.
(2) Minimize stress in life. Stress leads to lack of exercise, binge snacking, and alcohol consumption.

Talk to your doctor about exercise & weight management programs offered by hospital. This is getting popular nowadays. I actually just referred one of my younger patients to the M.O.V.E. program in the veterans' hospital I work at, and he seems to be loving it.

Re: Cookie Diet for weight loss

there should be enough exercise and also a very good and strict diet so that the diet works out well and if there are weight loss pills then do take them along as it will be a plus!
