| Sirius has officially killed satellite radio!!!! I'm REALLY disappointed in this merger/ changes that have taken effect recently. Sirius has officially forced it's corporate beliefs/ way of doing things on XM radio. Like some of you have experienced the line of communication between XM/ Sirius and it's customer has been severed. I had heard nothing of the channel changes, so when getting into my car I thought something was wrong with my headunit. All my presets where either gone or a different channel with the exception of Bluesville. So... finally I called XM to see what was up, and that is when I was informed of the changes. I had purchased Sirius radio for my fiance a few years ago, so I was familiar with their lineup. In my opinion XM was for music lovers while Sirius was nothing but hype. I could listen to XM for hours and hear nothing but great music, deep playlists, and when the dj's did talk it was informative/ interesting talk as they would usually talk music/ history of the stuff they were playing. On the other hand Sirius was all hype with their artist specific channels and "guest" hosts. I really don't want to hear some pro "action sports" guy bro it up before playing the newest Pennywise track (or whatever else is hip at the time) on the Faction channel. So on that note with Soul Street turning into "Soul Town" and giving Leigh, Dr. Nick, and BB the boot, The Rhyme65 disappearing completely and taking with them Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Kam, Ali Shaheed, Monie Love, and the whole Spitkicker crew, Fred being gone, and Fungus 53 turning into AC/DC 24/7 I say goodbye to satellite radio. An extra 12 bucks a month in my pocket to buy Vinyl I guess... It's a sad day. Sorry to rant for so long.
By the way who the heck can listen to a specific artist 24/7??? That's just crazy if you ask me, and Sirius is full of those channels.
Anyone know of any online alternatives to satellite radio? Something that believes in playing music and not just selling airspace/ artists.
Everyone who has XM radio let me know what you think. If there's enough people who think the way I do I've got a list of executives there to e-mail. I'll post up if enough interest. |

| Re: Sirius has officially killed satellite radio!!!! Wow....I've had Sirius for several years now and love it. Granted, I'm either tuned to the sports channels, Hard Attack, or Octane most of the time, so other channels may be different. I've also started listening to The Coffee House and Margaritaville more lately. I just recently added the "Best of XM" to my Sirius subscription for the sports and have been fairly pleased so far. |

| Re: Sirius has officially killed satellite radio!!!! I agree with XBCreep. I'm not satisfied with the changes on XM either. Random question though, is anybody with XM having issues now with dead air? I've changed the channel quite a few times and it takes like 30 seconds for a channel to load. |

| Re: Sirius has officially killed satellite radio!!!! Hey Toup.. no dead air issue here... just dead DJ's....
huge blunder for Sirius in my mind. One removing both The Rhyme65 and Backspin. Now they're are over 9 stations that cater to classic rock fans, but not one that caters to progressive hip hop or old school hip hop. Fungus 53 was taken off the air a few months ago for ac/dc 24/7. I don't care how much you like an artist, 24 hours straight of one group is a waste of airspace. I'm pretty sure the only reason for it is to promote their new album anyways. All about money these days. Now there is no where to go for punk/ ska/ rockabilly fans. They try to sway you to Faction, but in no way is that a channel for punk fans. Sirius channel info for faction involves heelflips, mctwists, tony hawk, and linkin park. Where is the punk in that? satellite radio was brought about to cater to niche groups with their specific genre channels. slowly that is going away as Sirius is filled with decades top 40 and artist specific channels. Seriously...... who cold stand to listen to Grateful dead longer than 10 sec. let along 24/7. Some dirty hippie shit right there.
I've heard of this is a pretty good alternative to satellite radio too. Slacker Personal Radio - Listen to Free Internet Radio Stations portable internet radio.

| Re: Sirius has officially killed satellite radio!!!! Another complaint...XM Never had DJ's before. Now I have to deal with morons talking about so much stuff on almost every station I turn to. And I think there are more commercials now.
XM used to be 100% music.. |

| Re: Sirius has officially killed satellite radio!!!! I cant get use to the XM Changes myself. I dont hate it, but Its hard to get used to it. Personally Im glad they changed Raw 66 to Shade. You'd hear about 2 hip-hop/rap songs then atleast 5 mins of Mrs.Kitty talking about nothing important.
I dont like how they changed Metallica on me =P. I did get extra channels added, from 55 to 60. Then a couple more i cant think of.
Ive thought about canceling it, then that would require me having to make cd's again. So i think im keeping mine. |

| Re: Sirius has officially killed satellite radio!!!! There was really only a few stations I listened to on Sirius.
Punk
Rawdog
Faction (3pm was the best with Jason Ellis)
Alt Nation (pending mood)
and Seriously Sinatra. (although it was better when it was Standards and Time)
I stopped listening to Sirius when I kept having issue after issue with the "portable" units. When they changed to a docking system, their reliability when down the crapper. They'd work good for a few months. It'd dock tightly, no issues.... BUT then after a while, you have to move it to get it find the "sweet" spot. That being said, made driving with Sirius on a pain in the arse. Hit a bump, "searching for signal"..... Total bs. I am trying to find what I need to get the OEM XM unit in my car working again. Mainly because I am tired of regular radio already. (only been a few months). I don't think I can take these horrible bands any more. Only station that plays what I listen to, plays it at request, or once in a blue moon. (bands like Rise Against, Against me, the Ramones, X, Dead Kennedys, ect.)
For the record. I had Sirius before the Howard Stern announcement. And let me just say.... The Stern show, BTLS, Ferrel, are all garbage. Waste of channels. |

| Re: Sirius has officially killed satellite radio!!!! For me, Sirius is worth it simply for the NFL channel. ESPN doesn't do it for me when it comes to NFL coverage. I like listening to guys like Tim & Pat in the afternoons talk about very detail oriented stuff. That, and Howard Stern, and channels like the Boneyard keep me subscribing. |
